Don’t say free: A proposed bill prohibiting the word “free” to describe any services that refer to government assistance through public funding was passed on to the Senate after a 55-46 House vote. HB265 states that any agency, board, institution, official or employee should not use the word “free” to describe any services that refer to government assistance through public funding. Tsunami Sushi‘s newest wave has rolled in, 225 Magazine reports.  The second Baton Rouge location of the Lafayette-born restaurant is now open on the first floor of @Highland. The restaurant opened its doors nearly two weeks ago after some two years of construction. Though the office complex might seem like an unlikely place for a high-end sushi spot, General Manager Allyson Mayeux says the Tsunami team decided to open at 1 Smart Way to service more of Baton Rouge. The longtime director of the Louisiana’s K-12 school board announced on Monday that she’s retiring, Louisiana Illuminator reports. Louisiana has the seventh-highest quit rate in the U.S., according to a recent study by Schmidt & Clark. The study analyzed data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics to determine which states had the highest average quit rates between October 2023 and January 2024. Louisiana’s average quit rate over that four-month span was 2.83%, peaking at 3% in October 2023. The study found that Alaska had the highest average quit rate in the country at 3.5%, followed by Montana and Wyoming (tied for second), West Virginia, Delaware and Mississippi. Louisiana lawmakers are considering a proposal that would prohibit companies from winning government contracts if they refuse to do business with firearm companies or pro-gun groups, Louisiana Illuminator reports.
