DES MOINES, Iowa- On Saturday afternoon a man in a fishing boat got too close to the churning water at the Scott Street Dam and his boat got sucked in and stuck. He struggled to survive. Des Moines Fire Department Wet Team Two came to the rescue. Lt. Tad Stoner said the team used what's called a two-boat tether; the rescuing boat is tied to a second boat which is safe outside the strong current. The second boat can pull the rescue boat in and out if need be. The Des Moines Fire Department posted on Facebook photos of the rescue and an explanation for what happened. NEWTON, Iowa -- Racers geared up and tested the track at the Iowa Speedway on Thursday ahead of the Hy-Vee INDYCAR Race Weekend that takes place next month. Seventeen INDY NXT drivers tested the track by driving more than 1,350 laps at around 158 mph. INDY NXT Driver Christian Rasmussen has raced at the track before and said it was great to be back on the oval. DES MOINES, IOWA -- A West Des Moines man sitting in his enclosed from porch was thrown out of his home when a truck hit the building on Thursday morning. It happened at the intersection 1st/63rd and Vine Street around 9:00 a.m. West Des Moines Police say a work truck pulling a utility trailer left the road and crashed into the porch. URBANDALE, Iowa -- A man was arrested and charged Wednesday for allegedly videotaping his roommate while she was in the shower on multiple occasions. On May 27 the victim reported to the Urbandale Police Department that her roommate, 24-year-old Alexander Sutton, had taken multiple videos of her while she was changing and showering, court documents state. Mountaineer Nation is aiming to take care of one of its own. A GoFundMe page has been created for Gabe Osabuohien, the former WVU hoops star, who was injured in a vehicle accident over the weekend. According to social media posts and the fundraiser page, Osabuohien suffered various injuries, including a pair of broken vertebrae, a concussion, and a broken nose.
