This semester will be different. There’s no doubt about it.     __________________ Some of you may have a shorter semester, a lack of long weekends, and a different rush process. Some of you may even be taking most of your classes online. Whether you’re going to be a freshman, sophomore, junior, or a senior– this year will be different than the typical college experience. You may not get to experience get-togethers with your friends or the favorite college bar with your senior friends. That’s upsetting. You can be upset. It is not a sin to be disappointed.     _____________ ..read more

To The Senior Whose Graduation Looks Different…

You’re graduating. But your graduation looks different than those who came before you. While they smiled for pictures and tossed their caps, you’re sitting at home watching a short commencement speech in your childhood bedroom. And yes… that kind of sucks. But please never forget this… Your graduation day is canceled, but you still graduated. Even though there is no ceremony, celebrate how far you have come. Celebrate what you accomplished. But hold tight to the truth that your best days are yet to come. God’s going to use this for His glory…if you trust Him on His path. Proverbs 16:9 says “W ..read more

To The One Who Is Used To Being Busy…

“I’m busy!” “I’m tired!” Two things you said often before Corona. But look what happened? Now, you have more time. Now, you’re forced to rest. Unless your career is essential right now you are required to stay home…. and rest. I know that may be hard for you. You’re used to doing all the things. You’re used to a schedule that is packed. But in this season, with a newly open schedule what can you, my “busy” friend learn? Jesus never wanted your hustle or busyness. Jesus wanted you. And He wants you now. Not the you who succeeds, smiles big and “fakes it till you make it”…He wants the real you ..read more

It is almost that time of year again. Thanksgiving break is over. You are no longer eating leftover stuffing with your family. You’re back at school and stressed. It is time for finals.  Time for you to get little to no sleep. Time for you to start calculating the lowest possible grade you can get to pass your class. Time for you to spend more nights in the library and more days cramming on quizlet. Chances are you are stressed. Chances are you are counting down the days till Christmas break. Chances are you are overwhelmed. If you’re getting ready to take your finals, I pray you find truth in ..read more

“How is college going???”

Ahh the holidays… A time when you see old faces and familiar places. A time when you feel like you need to bring an updated resume to every family event. A time when you’re asked 5,000 questions about college before you even get the chance to hit up your high school friends. When I was in college, I hated these questions. I hated having to answer with a smile on my face. I hated running into my sweet mother’s distant friends at the Target and being asked by strangers, distant family friends, and family the simple question “HOW IS COLLEGE GOING?” Their question is fair. Their question is kind ..read more

Jesus Never Asked You To Be Everyone’s Best Friend

Everyone wants to be liked… And by everyone I mean me. But I don’t just struggle with wanting everyone to like me… I struggle with trying to be everyone’s best friend. This isn’t a new struggle for me. My junior year of high school I was the type of girl who would try to be everyone’s best friend. I said all the right things, talked to everyone, was very much known as the “nice girl” and let me tell ya something — that crap was exhausting and not what Jesus wanted I felt this pressure that as the Christian girl I was supposed to be everyone’s best friend. I would try to hang with everyone and ..read more

“DoN’T yOU JuST loVE wheN Jesssuusss whispers INTO oUR sweet sweet hearts….”   A girl at my university said this in a chapter meeting for my sorority once. I remember laughing out loud. WHISPERS? He whispers into your heart? What does that even mean?? I used to get so frustrated when Christians would use weird phrases to talk about God speaking to them. I was frustrated for two reasons: The language they used was misleading. They said the pretty words but did they mean it? Did they audibly hear a whisper? How did it go towards their heart? Why is their heart so “sweet”???? I couldn’t fee ..read more

Read this if you’ve been hurt by a Christian.

I recently had a 15 year old come to me crying. She got hurt by someone who was a “Christian”. She looked at me with sad eyes and said something we all have felt… “It hurts worse that I was wronged by a Christian.” Whether you yourself are a Christian or not…it hurts to be hurt by the same people who supposedly preach “love your neighbor”. When you’re hurt by a Christian you have every right to be frustrated, confused, and aggravated by their hypocrisy. You’ve probably felt that way before too. I mean you did click on this article… I have felt this way a bizzillion times…sadly “Christians” wr ..read more

Jesus never asked you to be busy.

I get you because I AM you… I’ve been you since I was 17. Always busy. Always “productive”. Living life like a race and running from activity to activity. Trying to achieve it all… You’re overwhelmed and overbooked. You’re under caffeinated and under appreciated. You’re busy. If you’re anything like me then your favorite word is often,”YES”. You say yes without thinking, then find yourself in over your head. Life is moving faster than you and some mornings you wonder if there’s ever gonna be an eye cream good enough to hide  your bags. I get it. However, friend Jesus never asked you to be busy ..read more
