Eighth Annual Lake to Lake 8K Run, Woods Walk and Dog Walk Run and walk through more than 400 acres of Lacawac Sanctuary at the eighth annual Lake to Lake 8K Run, Woods Walk and Dog Walk on Sunday, Oct. 17, at the Lacawac Sanctuary Field Station & Environmental Education Center, 94 Sanctuary Road, Lake Ariel. The event begins at 8:30 a.m. Dogs are allowed on the Woods Walk but not on the 8K, as the course is rocky, technical and steep. ‘It’s Not Easy Being’ Diva Theater will present an original play by Marcie Herman Riebe starting this week at the Olde Brick Theatre, 126 W. Market St., Scranton. “It’s Not Easy Being” will take place Friday, Oct. 15, and Saturday, Oct.16, at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 17, at 2 p.m. Riebe’s play “is full of magic, the unexpected and the color green,” according to Diva. Dunmore Cemetery Tour: Drive-Through Edition Take a trip through history with the Dunmore Cemetery Tour: Drive-Through Edition on Oct. 10, at the cemetery, 400 Church St., Dunmore. The Dearly Departed Players will present the program, which switched from its annual walking tour to a drive-through version last year because of the coronavirus pandemic. Taylor native Matt Gawel took home a big prize for his huge pumpkin. Gawel’s pumpkin, grown at his grandmother’s home on Union Street in Taylor, earned first place, weighing in at 1,767 pounds, during the Ridgefield Giant Pumpkin Weigh-Off Sunday in Connecticut. The site serves as a weigh station of the Great Pumpkin Commonwealth, the official giant pumpkin group. In addition to receiving the $2,500 first-place prize for the heaviest pumpkin, Gawel also sold the pumpkin to Storybook Land in Egg Harbor Twp., New Jersey, for $1,767, a dollar a pound.
