Brass Part Numbers

I realize brass is on the fringe of hydraulics but I wanted to pick the brain of the collective. We are going through an exercise to standardize on part numbers for our brass fittings we stock and sell. Since every source has their own part numbers and we buy from several sources, does the collective have a thought on who's part numbers we should standardize on. North American company, so minimal metric. Many seem to use the Fairview Fittings style part numbers but I'm curious if anyone knows who originated those part numbers. Any thoughts would be appreciated. submitted by /u/Proud-Fennel-4 ..read more

Hello there. I have a question, I got 2 exactly same pulling forces and would like to use something like pneumatic actuator or linear one. But I need one force to pull, then let the other pull so they are alternating. Is there any way to do it? submitted by /u/Patorikku_0ppa [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hydraulic press not returning.

Cylinder rebuilt recently, this an old Weyer 100 press. After cylinder rebuild the machine worked well for a while, then it stopped building pressure over 800 psi, after checking valves and pump pressure seemed a bit better at 2300 psi. However after reassembly and testing the ram seems to have been over extended. With the line disconnected from the top of the ram I can manually pry it up but it becomes stuck at a certain height. Is it possible the ram has self destructed due to over extension? Any insight would be extremely helpful. Unfortunately I don’t have any documentation on this equipm ..read more

Phillips 66 powertran tractor hydraulic fluid equivalent

Forgive me if this sounds like a set of dumb questions but I have a knock box(used to process cattle) that I was given to fix(I’m not even in hydraulics) with no instructions. When I tried to turn on the machine it powers up but when I press down on the levers some of the hydraulic arms move super slow and some don’t move at all. I checked the fluid and it looks like it’s 3/4 filled. I’m thinking I need to change the hydraulic fluid + change the filter and bleed out the lines. The knock box came with phillips 66 powertran tractor hydraulic fluid but I can’t seem to find this particular br ..read more

Why does tractor's power steering lock trigger PRV?

I have an old tractor with power steering fed from diverter with 1gpm of the 6gph pump, with the rest going to loader and backhoe. Power steering works great, and when I go to full lock, the PRV opens. It's single PRV for the whole tractor, upstream of everything. I'm just trying to understand why that happens. When the steering actuator deadheads, doesn't it just end up sending that extra gallon to the rest of the loop instead of tapping it's 1gpm at the diverter? I don't understand why that would open the PRV. Or maybe it's broken after all? I was under the impression this is normal, but ma ..read more

Good afternoon! Im new on this electric part and I have a question regarding my project, and I hope you guys can help me out. I'm trying to set up the electrical part of my hydraulic circuit, and I'm facing some issues. In the image I shared, when I press the 'Start' button (I1), the circuit runs smoothly, and the mechanism starts to rise as expected. However, after the rise is complete, the valve doesn't return to its original state to allow solenoid S2 to be activated for the actuator to descend. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas on how I can solve this issue? Thanks in advance ..read more
