Kill Code opens a near-future dystopian series set in a world facing climate catastrophe where nothing is what it seems. I hope you enjoy reading my latest venture, which was written in Miami where I live with my wife, teenage daughter, and cat Louis.

A local Sydneyite, Warren Fahey, and I chinwag about my brand-new book, Off Season.
Warren: Today I am chatting with local writer CLIVE FLEURY. It seems as if there are a lot of ‘bi’ people in Potts Point bisexual, bipolar and some obsessed with biceps.— you and your partner, Rose, are bi-coastal in that you spend part of the year in Potts Point and some in Florida. How long have you been a Potts Point local?
Clive: We’ve been Potts Point locals for about three years after coming over from the
States to help our daughter settle in at the University of Sydney. We used to live in Darlinghurst in ..read more

The Coronavirus is everything people have been warned about and more. It’s highly infectious, sometimes deadly, and even for those diagnosed initially with so-called mild cases extremely destructive to their health. There’s talk too that asymptomatic carriers may not retain immunity for more than a few months, so they could catch the virus again!
And you would think, looking at this from a purely selfish point of view, that for all of us who write about such deadly nightmares this would be a vindication. Indeed our dystopian books sometimes dismissed as catastrophizing, maybe should be moved f ..read more

Hi,
These are trying times, so I hope you are all keeping safe and well out there. I recently completed an interview for the wonderful Fanbase Press – www.fanbasepress.com – a comic book publisher and an online community supporting other creators and fans through daily reviews, interviews, and podcasts that span the pop culture spectrum. Take a gander at the site – I’m sure you’ll like it. Meanwhile, here’s the interview. Barbara Dillon, Fanbase Press Editor-in-Chief, asked the questions.
BD: Congratulations on the release of your sci-fi novel, Kill Code, from TCK Publishing! For those who may ..read more

I thought I’d share with you a new book, ‘Burt Reynolds on Screen’ by Wayne Byrne. It has recently been published and, as the title suggests, is all about the late Burt Reynolds. For those interested in Hollywood acting icons it’s a must-read and a real insight into a greatly underestimated actor. Having said that, I do have a personal interest. I made a movie with Burt called ‘Big City Blues’ and Wayne Byrne writes about this in his enthralling book. The first part of this is shown below. Part Two is on a separate blog. Enjoy!

Wow, this is hard. I was aiming to get my second book in the Code series out this month but Blood Code: A Dystopian Science Fiction Novel is taking far more time than I expected. I’ve already had a dose of the second book syndrome–that’s when writer’s block often hits you hard. But I assumed writing the second book in a series would be different. I have the characters. I have already plotted out two books ahead. What could go wrong?… Just everything!
It’s human nature to want to write something next that is even better than the first book in the series. But it can all go horribly wrong. I r ..read more

It’s a well-known fact—the second book in a series is the one that really tests your mettle. Will it be good enough, will people like it… will they buy it? Those are the fears I’m facing with the second book in my dystopian science fiction ‘Code’ series. I had always planned for the books to be a trilogy, starting with ‘Kill Code’. Reviewers have been kind to the novel. On the whole people like it, so it should be a no-brainer to write the second book, shouldn’t it? Well, the answer is ‘no it is not.’
Being an author you always have to walk a creative tight rope. It doesn’t matter how many ..read more

I write short books. There, I’ve said it, but boy was that hard. There seems to be a heck of a lot of prejudice against authors who write short books.
It’s not as if I ever wanted to write a short novel. When I dreamed of writing novels, I always had this image in my head of completing a massive tome of over six hundred pages – something that would truly impress. If you bought it at an airport you could happily sit on the plane and fly to Australia and still have more pages to read by the time you arrived. And the world and I were in step. Just as more and more people seem to be getting fatte ..read more

To say that technology has its downsides is hardly revolutionary. But just a few years ago arguing this point of view would be viewed as heresy. Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, the founders of Google, Twitter and Facebook—all were welcomed with open arms. The advantages they bought for all of us seemed clear. We could connect with anyone with the touch of a computer key; we could find anything about anything. The world was our oyster. No more slogging off to the library or scrolling through data on microfiche. How quaint was that?
But now few people view technology through such rose-tinted glasse ..read more

Should I or shouldn’t I? That’s a question I’ve been mulling recently. Should I be Clive Fleury, or C. Fleury, or maybe just something like Fred Smith? I could go the whole hog and change my gender. How about Claudine Rogers? No? Well, maybe I keep the same gender but change my ethnicity. Perhaps something with a Russian bent, seeing as how Russia seems to be in the news constantly? Let’s see, what about Sergei Petrov? That has a certain ring to it.
What am I talking about? My name – or at least the name I use as a writer which it just so happens is also my real name. When I first started writ ..read more
