Welcome to another poem of the week! Similar to my couple of weeks of black-out poetry, I decided to do something a bit different this week. I love spoken word poetry, though there’s not many places around here I can hear it live. Thanks to the internet, people around the world can post and listen to spoken poetry. Sometimes hearing the inflictions in the voice of the writer drives home the right emotion they were trying to portray that sometimes pass in just the written words. Give them a try and see what you like!

shallow water start boiling
bubbles coming through
breaking the still surface
reeds and vines intertwining as they grew
shattering the morning silence
with their loud and deafening shrew
climbing, climbing, climbing
angry and aggressive in sound
taking over and strangling
all the daffodils on the ground.
– self-doubt
I’m head over heels for you
completely and utterly in love with you
hopelessly desperate to meet you.
– searching
someone once told me
that desperation
is the world’s grossest emotion
but I think you’re a pushy kind of beautiful.
– save me

Hidden Insanity
What is real insanity?
and who is really insane?
I asked him.
He hesitated,
then opened his mouth to speak
“the ones who are truly insane
are the people who believe
they are not.
the ones who believe
that they
are always ok”
but truth is,
we all go mad sometimes
and that small break into
insanity
is actually
what keeps us
sane.

Welcome back to another week of Top Ten Tuesday hosted by the lovely That Artsy Reader Girl! TTT is a bookish meme in which each week bloggers are given a topic and list their very own top ten on that topic.
Because of a bunch of doctor’s appointments and check-ups (still cancer free and feeling great!) I’ve missed the last couple of TTT’s, but I’m happy to be back this week!

Barred Mercy
Behind this barred door, no one else goes;
Heavy is the load no one else knows.
Unexposed thoughts remain unknown;
Feelings unexposed – no pain disclosed.
Behind the door, I’m always reliving
The thoughts of deeds not yet forgiven.
‘Til I open this door allowing
someone to listen,
Mentally barred mercy cannot be given.
