After a 5-1 road trip, the Atlanta Braves will return to Truist Park to begin a nine-game homestand, which starts with a three-game series against the defending World Series champion Texas Rangers. The Braves (barely!) took two of three from the Marlins in Miami and then swept the Astros to improve to 12-5 on the season. They entered Thursday’s off day with a two-game advantage over the Philadelphia Phillies in the NL East standings.

The dynamic duo everyone saw coming.
If you don’t know, here’s the current fWAR leaderboard for the Braves:

Yes, the best two players on the team to this point of the season have been Orlando Arcia and Marcell Ozuna. You would’ve gotten some decent odds on that before the season.
Ozuna is the least surprising of the two and therefore the easiest to explain. He’s hitting the crap out of the ball. Like normal, he’s producing negative value as a baserunner and as a fielder because he’s a DH-only designation who runs like he’s dragging Bri ..read more

Orlando Arcia came through in extras to help the Braves sweep the Astros | Thomas Shea-USA TODAY Sports
In what looked like a day where the Braves could not get anything going, they rallied late in the game to defeat the Astros in extra innings.
The Atlanta Braves took on the Houston Astros this afternoon in the series finale
The first inning looked like the Braves may get something going when Ronald Acuña had a fly ball single that dropped in front of the center fielder and then got to second off of a balk from J.P. France on an attempted steal. However, France was able to retire the next thr ..read more

Max Fried looks to help the Braves sweep the Astros | Sam Navarro-USA TODAY Sports
The Braves look to sweep the Astros behind Max Fried
After taking the first two games of the series, the Atlanta Braves look to sweep the Houston Astros as Max Fried takes the mound.
Fried looked sharp in his last start against the Marlins and the Astros’ starter J.P. France gave up eight earned runs against the Rangers in his last start.
Kelenic is the only player in the Braves lineup to have faced France, so it will be fun to see how the rest of the lineup does against him.
First pitch is scheduled for 2:10 p ..read more

With Albies out, Guillorme gets the start at 2B | Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports
With Ozzie Albies on the IL, we have a new look Braves lineup
As the Atlanta Braves face the Astros this afternoon, they will continue to be without their starting second baseman Ozzie Albies.
Not only does this leave a hole in the position itself, but it is also significant in terms of the lineup. Albies has been a steady force as the second hitter. Now that he is injured there are some serious shoes to fill.
In today’s lineup, yesterday’s surprise hero, Luis Guillorme will be staying at second base base batting ni ..read more

Max Fried had a great start against the Marlins, will that continue against the Astros?
Max Fried and the Atlanta Braves are set to take on J.P. France and the Astros in the final of the three-game series this afternoon at Minute Maid Park.
There is no sugar coating it, Max Fried has had a rough start to his season. In his first start of the season against the Phillies, he got lit up for three earned runs and three walks while throwing forty-three pitches in only 0.2 innings against the Phillies. In his nex ..read more
