Gungahlin United eased into the Semi-Finals of the Federation Cup as they clinically knocked out ANU WFC with a convincing 6-0 victory at the Australian Institute of Sport in the first of the Quarter Final matches. Two goals in the opening half had Gunners in the driving seat, and from there they were able to kick-on and pick off the University side as they came searching for a way to keep themselves in the competition. The opening goal was scored by Ginger Oliver, the winger playing a short one-two with midfielder Stella De Marco before curling a splendid finish over Olivia Kent from outside ..read more

The Nation’s Capital is used to producing good footballers. And quite a few of those end up at the Central Coast Mariners. That’s hardly surprising considering the link provided to link to the Isuzu Ute A-League side provided by Canberra’s own Andy Bernal, one of the pioneer’s of exporting Canberra talent abroad, a road he himself trod onto stardom with Sporting Gijon in Spain and Reading in England. Bernal was instrumental in the career of one of Canberra’s biggest and best, the incomparable Tom Rogic. Round 3 of the WNPL saw Belconnen United affirming themselves a bit more as a title contender, while the two teams at the bottom of the table before the weekend scored their first points. Friday night football was on the cards at the AIS, and Gungahlin United earned their first points of the season against the West Canberra Wanderers with a 4-1 success. The gunners had yet to get a point before the match, but virtually killed off the contest with four goals in the first half-an-hour. Capital Football
by Russ Gibbs

A sensational equaliser from Nick Pratezina earned ten-man Canberra Croatia a more than deserved point from a pulsating 2-2 draw with Tigers FC in front of a large crowd at the Australian Institute of Sport in National Premier League Round 3. Pratezina emerged from the bench for the third time this season to score for the third successive league match, acrobatically meeting a pinpoint cross from Thomas James, on the occasion of his 100th NPL appearance, to magnificently volley past Kristian Nel in the Tigers goal. It was nothing more than Croatia deserved having responded superbly to losing s ..read more

The sun was blazing, but the wind was blowing as it inherently is, at Palmerston Oval as two teams of distinctive cultural identities clashed in the Capital League Open with Yarabi FC rolling out the red carpet, or in this case, the green cricket astroturf strip, to Burns FC from ‘Down South’. Yarabi, one of the newest teams in the Capital Football Federation, are proud to be represented by a word derived from the Ngunnawal language – The language of the traditional owners of the land on which they play football. ‘Yarabi’ is the updated, traditional representation of the word many know as ‘Ye ..read more

REVIEW: CPL – BIG WINS FOR BLUE DEVILS & QUEANBEYAN
Capital Football

Belconnen United moved to the top of the Capital Premier League on goal difference with a crushing 8-0 victory over West Canberra Wanderers as the Blue Devils moved back to McKellar Park for the first time this season. The home side were in top form as they heaped more misery on a beleaguered Wanderers who ended a week to forget in which they conceded fifteen goals in two games, were dumped out of the Australia Cup Qualifying, and fell to the foot of the early CPL league table. They were behind early as Abraham Kemp opened the scoring in only the tenth minute, before Harry Billington and Babi ..read more
