The 2024 tournament schedule for the Ottawa Valley Golf Association (OVGA) is set to start this weekend as The Meadows G&CC will host the OVGA Junior Spring Classic on May 4/5. The field will play over the South and West nines at the south end Ottawa golf course, not only to play for the title, but also as a qualifier for various tournaments. This past Sunday, April 28, saw the kick-off for the 2024 Ottawa Valley Golf Association (OVGA) Junior Development Team training program. The team met up at The Meadows Golf & Country Club in the south end of Ottawa for the session which, by all accounts, was tremendously successful. The 2024 team is made up of 18 boys and girls aged 11 to 18 years old, looking to progress their games for competitive golf, to complement the work they do with their personal coaches. It sounds funny to say that winning golf tournaments in Peru is old hat for Stuart Macdonald of Vancouver, but it is kind of true. The 29 year-old from Vancouver win 29th Lima Golf Club International Amateur Championship in 2017, and now he has raised a trophy as a professional in the South American country.
