God’s Grace Set Me Free From Pornography
Covenant Eyes Blog

I had never had capabilities on any device (to my knowledge) to look up pornography until I was 16 years old, when my parents, younger brother, and I moved to the Middle East. Because of the international school I went to, I needed a laptop. I found ways to download apps aside from Safari that would grant me access to many tremendously explicit movies and clips. I fell very deep into this sin. Yet, God reached out to my heart as powerfully as He did when I first accepted Him and said, “Why are you doing this?” By God’s grace, He set me free from pornography. Have I never struggled again? I ha ..read more

Reading Romance Novels: Is It Porn?
Covenant Eyes Blog
by Crystal Martin

I encountered an influencer who shared a few verses on what the Bible tells us we should turn away from. She brought several verses to her followers’ attention, including Hebrews 13:4. “Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral” (Hebrews 13:4). She shared that to her, this verse means no pornography, no sex outside of marriage, and no steamy romance novels.  We understand the consequences that adultery has for marriage and that pornography has on the brain. Most Christians, and even many non-Christia ..read more

Pride and Porn: The Risk of Overestimating Your Willpower
Covenant Eyes Blog

These days, we’re often told to believe in ourselves, build our self-esteem, and take pride in our abilities and accomplishments. But this pride might be what undermines our ability to deal with deeply ingrained struggles—like porn. In a 2009 article for Psychological Science, behavioral scientists Nordgren, van Harreveld, and van der Pligt looked at people’s beliefs regarding their own self-control.1 They found that the more confident a person was in their self-control, the more likely they were to relapse with impulsive behaviors.   This shouldn’t surprise Christians at all. Proverbs 1 ..read more

I Was a 12-Year-Old Girl Addicted To Porn
Covenant Eyes Blog

All the assumptions that pornography was a boy’s struggle completely dismissed me, a twelve-year-old girl addicted to porn. I was part of a large percentage of teens using pornography, and while so many of us struggled, I felt alone. What started as seeking questions became a full-on addiction, and because of those assumptions and labels of porn being a male struggle, I did not know how to seek freedom and overcome the shame. My life was extremely secretive for a while, and watching pornography became an everyday routine until, one day, my parents found out. That was one of the scariest days ..read more

What’s the difference between being addicted to porn and merely having a porn habit? Habits are behaviors that have become automatic over time. Addiction involves a deeper change in your neurochemistry. Habits might be changed with enough motivation and willpower. “The Youth Pastor Did What?!” Talking About Porn in Church
Covenant Eyes Blog
by Dillon Fawcett

Growing up, I was fortunate to have pastors who were not afraid to mention the word “porn” or address the issue of sexual integrity head-on. This led to a safe environment in which I was able to confess my sins of using pornography as a high school student to my entire youth group. The leaders provided an environment in which I knew the heaviness of my sins, but the grace to be shame-free. Though it was very challenging, through my church’s support, and the grace of God, I was able to overcome my propensity to use porn and encouraged to pursue sexual integrity. Unfortunately, the number ..read more

Is Something Wrong With Me?: A Woman’s Struggle With Porn

Sin has taken the form of nude images, explicit magazines, TV shows, R-rated movies, sexual assault, and little minds being exposed to perversion at a young age. Whether the calendar reads 1932 or 2024, both man and women have had to face porn presented in different packages. Porn has become a normality; individuals are greeted with naked women whether they type Netflix or Pornhub into their search engine. In a culture where everything is extremely sexualized, how do we balance living holy in the midst of it? I am still finding the answer myself and I have learned the answer to the question m ..read more

How to Overcome Porn Addiction According to the Bible
Covenant Eyes Blog
by Crystal Martin
1M ago
The Bible clearly tells us what we should and shouldn’t do. It tells us that watching pornography is a sin and something Christians should strive to avoid.  But what if you are addicted to pornography? Suppose no matter how many times you resist and flee from temptation, its grip is too strong on you. Eventually, either after a lengthy struggle or after only a few moments, you give in.    If that’s you, what’s the answer? For many Christians, it feels like there’s no winning the battle. Struggles with pornography become an endless cycle of shame and eventual defeat.&n ..read more
