With Christmas just around the corner I thought it would good to have a few new and easy smoothie recipes to hand that you can make quickly – just for yourself or to share. This one is red, green and white as the title says. This has the best Christmas colors in traditional red and green, and we all hope for some of the white stuff to complete the day. And as you will see, the green does not dominate. Instead, you have the lovely pinky-red from the berries and the green comes from the pumpkin seeds, both in it and to decorate it. The recipe is from ElizabethRider who says … While I ..read more

[Recipe] Chocolate Oats and Flaxseed Anti-Inflammatory Smoothie
Drink Me Healthy | Smoothies

I like things that check more than one box. Not only is this smoothie tasty and filling, it is good for you, too. The chocolate, the oats and the flaxseed all have anti-inflammatory properties as well as other health benefits. You can serve this smoothie as a filling meal-replacement for two. Then again, it will serve 3 or 4 to drink along with a light breakfast or even as a filling snack. And if you prefer to eat your breakfast rather than just drink it, you can reduce the milk to one cup and prepare the recipe the night before for a delicious bowl or jar of chocolate, oat and flaxs ..read more

I knew there was something missing when I read this smoothie recipe … but it took me ages to realise what it was – see the end of the post if you don’t immediately notice it. It tastes slightly different from my usual smoothies, but it’s good nonetheless :o) The recipe contains almond milk beverage – almost a smoothie staple these days. It is great for vegans who wish to avoid animal products, as well as for those with lactose intolerances. It gives a creamy look to your smoothie. But remember, almond milk beverage does not give you any protein. Therefore, if you are not vegan and ar ..read more

[Recipe] Mango Raspberry Smoothie

Mango and raspberries give a delicious, slightly sharp smoothie option that is very refreshing. I rarely add sweeteners to my smoothies. However, if this is a tad sharp for your tastes then you could add a teaspoonful of raw honey or maple syrup. Being able to adjust smoothies to your own preferences is what is so good about them. That’s not to say I never want a smoothie to be a little sweeter. If that’s the case I’ll add 4 small dried dates or 2 Medjool dates which will do the trick nicely. This smoothie is made with an easy and pretty two-layer effect. If you are lazy like me and ..read more

[Recipe] PB Strawberry and Granola Smoothie

Banana-less smoothies are few and far between – most recipes include one for it’s creaminess and for the sweetness it adds. However, we have a banana-less smoothie here for those of you who often ask for one. Peanut butter is a regular favorite ingredient in smoothies and always tastes good in them. One spoonful per person is typical, however, this recipe has even more delicious PB flavor due to an extra spoonful, mmm! Add to that the strawberry ‘jelly’ flavor and some tasty granola and we have a nutritious and filling breakfast smoothie. And a winner, at least I think so. What do yo ..read more

[Recipe] 4-Ingredient Pineapple Orange Tropical Smoothie
Drink Me Healthy | Smoothies
by Isabel

A refreshing 4-ingredient smoothie made with light coconut milk for added tropical flavor. The recipe is for one smoothie and suggests using light coconut milk from a can, but you can use full fat coconut milk if that’s what you have. Obviously the calories are much higher in full fat coconut milk, and if you pour the recipe into 2 glasses to help reduce the calories, you will only have a small smoothie each. If you decide to do this, drink it with a bowl of warming oatmeal and you will have a very filling breakfast. However, if you just like to have a smoothie for breakfast, here’s ..read more

[Recipe] Naturally High Protein Almond and Blueberry Smoothie
Drink Me Healthy | Smoothies
by Isabel
3y ago
This tasty almond and blueberry smoothie has 27 grams of protein – pretty good, considering there is not a dry protein powder in sight! However, don’t overdo the protein in your diet. If you are not active enough and therefore using all your calories, excess protein is no better for you than an excess of any other food groups. For any unused protein is stored as fat. Sorry, you just cannot get away from it. The milk, Greek yogurt and almonds used in the smoothie are all good sources of protein. And while almonds may be, unfortunately almond milk is not. It goes without saying that if ..read more

This bright and cheerfully colored, not to mention delicious, smoothie is just what we need as we get into winter and want to fight off the cold bugs that come with it. It serves loads of Vitamin C, ginger, and turmeric which are great to help ward off the dreaded colds and flu that are rife throughout the season. Regular consumption of these three nutrients can work wonders. While you may not avoid colds altogether, if you regularly include these in your diet colds may only last a day or two instead of a week or more. If you don’t like turmeric in your smoothies add it to your main ..read more
