My Pet Cat Named Squeaks
My Pet Services Blog

One of the pets I had was my pet cat that I named Squeaks because he always made a “squeaky” sound as opposed to meowing. I have written articles on all my other beloved pets that have passed away, so I did not want to exclude him. He was my second pet but the first one that died. He was a very funny cat!   His name was Squeaks I adopted him as “Xander” at 4 months old on 1-20-08 and he died 10-5-10. I had less than two years with him. It’s wrong that he died so young and I feel cheated that I didn’t get more time with him. He didn’t like my dog, sometimes attacked my cat Charlie (who wou ..read more

Here is my top 6 funny dog stories.   The elements of funny dog stories… So what makes a story about your dog a funny story versus just another story about your beloved pet? How many people love their dog sleeping in bed with them? I do not know the number or percentage but I’m sure it’s a high number. When I had my dog I didn’t even need to call his name. Hw would jump onto my bed as soon as I settled down for the night. I wouldn’t have it any other way. In this article, I endorse the pros of sleeping with your dog and address some of the cons.   Do you love your dog sleeping in bed with you? I do, how about you? Anyone who sleeps with their dog loves their dog or else they would kick their butt out and onto the floor. It doesn’t mean you don’t love your dog ..read more

It’s more likely that you will find mixed breeds, difficult breeds or less “desirable” breeds. I looked at the available dogs in pet shelters in 5 major US cities and made a list of all the breeds up for adoption. Read on to see the numbers. Most common breeds in 5 US city shelters If you love dogs and have been in a shelter then you probably know which breed is the most common that is available for adopt ..read more

This is less of a how-to for the first time pet owner, but more of a story about my first pet – my cat Charlie. As a first-time cat owner, I made more than my share of mistakes but overall I did a good job. She was quite needy but she was a great first pet. As a matter of fact, she was my first pet in my adult years. I’m sure you will pick up some tips if you are a first-time pet owner but I really just want to talk about her. I lost my cat Little Rascal in May of 2019, Three weeks later I had to put my dog Buddy to sleep as well. I took them all for granted, but I won’t make that mistake with ..read more

Best Dog Training Treats (Positive Reinforcement)
My Pet Services Blog
by Jim Kernicky

All dogs have different tastes when it comes to treats. Some, are just very food driven and really couldn’t care less about what you are giving them! However, when it comes to training treats, some treats are better than others.   What to look for in dog training treats When choosing dog training treats, you want to use something that is small, and easily kept in your pocket or a treat pouch. Small size is important because they are easy to carry around, and are easy to toss to your pup with a quick, “yes!” when he is displaying positive, wanted behavior. When it comes to consistency, somethin ..read more
