Missouri’s murky and complicated past with puppy mills has resurfaced once again with the release of the Humane Society’s 2024 Horrible Hundred report. According to the Humane Society, the report is a “list of known, problematic puppy breeding and/or puppy brokering facilities” across the country and it ranks states based on how many of these 100 facilities are in each state. Missouri has topped the list every year since the report’s inception in 2012 and this year’s report is no different. The Show Me State is at the top of the 2024 list with a reported 23 out of the 100. Ohio came in second ..read more

He has been on TV in Springfield for several weeks now and the race has tightened a great deal there, and overall.  I’m ..read more

Opinion: In the Race for Innovation, Missouri Can’t Afford to Fall Behind
The Missouri Times Podcast
by Representative Chad Perkins
1d ago
America’s patent system is stuck in the past, and it’s putting our technological future at risk. A string of Supreme Court rulings has upended the rules around what innovations can be patented, leaving the developers of breakthrough technologies in fields like biotech, medical diagnostics, and artificial intelligence without the legal protections they need to thrive. The consequences are devastating for high-tech hubs and entrepreneurs, including here in Missouri. Across the state, entrepreneurs are striving to turn cutting-edge research into successful businesses. But many are struggling to n ..read more

The Missouri Times Podcast
by Ray McCarty

With rising prices and global instability, our country’s food security has never been more important. The recent passage of HB 2763 in the Missouri House is a significant milestone in protecting access to American-made glyphosate, an essential product used to control harmful weeds on farms, which is critical to maintaining strong crop yields and ultimately keeping prices low for families around the world. This needed legislation would cut confusing red tape by clarifying that federal labeling requirements are sufficient to satisfy health and safety warnings. Opinion: Divided We Fall: The Crisis Within Missouri’s Republican Party
The Missouri Times Podcast
by Rep. Adam Schwadron

As a result of the fallout from this takeover from a small but organized group, many left in anger at the way the whole process was handled. The actions of that small group at the state convention has sped up the damage to the Missouri Republican Party. It is my hope that this damage is not permanent. I am shocked that my colleagues, Reps. Ben Baker and Dan Stacy have been labeled by the supporters of the Missouri Freedom Caucus senate members as RINO’s. Inst ..read more

Opinion: The Toyota Way
The Missouri Times Podcast
by Representative Doyle Justus
6d ago
Missouri’s economic landscape has witnessed a remarkable transformation, thanks to the enduring presence of Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Missouri (TMMMO). As the state continues to navigate the ever-evolving terrain of industry and employment, it’s imperative to acknowledge the pivotal role Toyota plays in fueling growth, fostering employment, and bolstering community welfare. Few people could have predicted when Jesse Bodine founded Bodine Pattern Company in St. Louis in 1912 that today over a hundred years later, his company now under the Toyota brand would manufacture 2.6 million cylinder he ..read more
