The Terps fell behind early and never put up much of a fight thereafter.
After a blowout 11-2 win on Saturday, Maryland baseball earned a chance to win its first series in almost a month. But those dreams of a series win died quickly on Sunday.
Maryland lost to Nebraska, 16-4, in a game that ended after the seventh inning due to mercy rule.
Terps freshman Joey McMannis took the ball, but was punished early. Nebraska got to him in the first inning when Tyler Stone crushed a two-run home run to right field.

The Terps were held to their lowest scoring output of the season.
BALTIMORE – When Johns Hopkins senior midfielder Johnathan Peshko fired the ball into the bottom corner with just under three minutes left in the third quarter, not many of Homewood Field’s 10,458 attendees expected it to be the game’s final goal.
But Maryland men’s lacrosse’s offense was lifeless all afternoon long, and the Terps failed to respond as they dropped “The Rivalry”, 7-5.
Johns Hopkins’ defense gave Maryland troubles from the opening whistle, suffocating the Tarps almost every tim ..read more

Maryland baseball dropped its series opener at Nebraska, 6-3, on Friday night. This year’s rendition of “The Rivalry” has some extra fuel with championship implications.
The 127th edition of “The Rivalry” will feature some added motivation — not that either team needs it.
When No. 5 Maryland men’s lacrosse (8-3, 3-1 Big Ten) makes the short trip north to Homewood Field to take on No. 3 Johns Hopkins, the No. 1 seed in the impending Big Ten Tournament will be up for grabs. The Terps can clinch a share of the conference regular-season title with a victory. If the Blue Jays win, they’ll take the title outright.
