*tl:dr, Opinion piece. Sorry to Stockholmassan and the Stockholm Furniture fair, I do love you, but. It all started out so optimistic didn’t it? 2020 was going to be an awesome year. To kick off the year Stockholm design week. Who knew what would happen next? A damn global pandemic. Then as we knew it 2020 got cancelled. Nevertheless, the design world did get to enjoy Stockholm Design Week in a normal sense. As I think back, I’ve been in a constant state of brain fog as soon as the lockdown began in March 2020 (here in Denmark). I’m sure I’m not alone with this.Just as I was about to write ab ..read more

AD – paid in collaboration with Georg Jensen for their stunning Christmas Collection 2020 by Sanne Lund Traberg Georg Jensen’s annual Christmas decorations have retuned. For this year’s Christmas collection Designer Sanna Lund Traberg references Georg Jensen’s historical work and style of the Art Nouveau period. This was combined with observing frozen nature in her wintry nordic garden and the works of early 20th century photographer Karl Blossfeldt. And while I haven’t quite got into the Christmas spirit decorating my home I spent this time looking into the details of these pieces. I was ins ..read more

A contemporary series inspired by the work of the Swedish designer, Sigvard Bernadotte (1907- 2002).From the very beginning of Bernadotte’s collaboration with Georg Jensen the designs were representative of their time. This collection beautifully captures the soft curves and femininity of the Art Deco period together with the straight lines and functionality of early Scandinavian Functionalism. Advertisement – The bloom collection in collaboration with Georg Jensen. A Danish company, proudly creating design and craftsmanship since 1904. I am so ready for Spring. These teaser sunny days get me all excited but sure enough the rain returns. sigh. Not to mention the virus that’s keeping us inside a lot these days. As we may not be able to enjoy the outdoors quite as we’d like then it’s probably the best time to think of ways to bring nature and bloom into the home. I like to bring in lots of greens though as I’m feeling particularly spring like I thought tulips would be a perfectly simpl ..read more

The Sculptor’s Residence was the first exhibition to kick off Stockholm design week 2020. It was located in the most stunning apartment in central Stockholm. Styled by the talented Linnea Ek Blæhr from Norm Architects, the space was curated as if a sculptor lived there, hence the title of the exhibition. New products from Menu, DUX and Norm Architects filled the apartment, alongside their current collections. For me this is the most pleasant way to see new designs exhibited. In keeping with the sculptural theme the apartment was styled with sculptures by Nicholas Shurey, Sofia Tufvasson and At ..read more

New designs | January edit 2020

As we enter 2020 my inbox is filled with new designs for my January edit. Stockholm furniture fair and design week soon approach so I will be one busy bee noting down all new and exciting designs. To kickoff the year I’ve selected products that have a bold, soft and simple design. The soft, minimal and simplified theme with nods to Japanese design is trending and has been for sometime. There’s a term going around the design world that is describing Scandinavian design with Japanese influence as ‘Japandi’ and I’m sorry, I can not use it. Just typing that makes me squirm, it feels like a sense o ..read more

Design classics relaunched – Hvidt and Mølgaard for &Tradition

Hvidt and Mølgaard are the latest designers to have reissued designs for &Tradition. It’s truly exciting when design classics get pulled out of the archives and breathe a new lease of life. Peter Hvidt and Orla Mølgaard Nielsen were Danish designers of the 1940’s onwards. Their work became widely recognised in the 1950’s because of the industrialised production of light-weight and exportable furniture. I attended a panel talk in &Tradition’s townhouse in Copenhagen, in the audience, listening to the son’s of Peter Hvidt and Orla Mølgaard talk beautifully about the designs and stories b ..read more
