PlayStation has revealed that it’s working on an update to the PS5’s multiplayer ecosystem to make it even easier to share your online sessions and have others join them. The new features will allow players to create QR links to online games that can be shared across any social media or messaging platform, and joined by others even if they’re not already friends on the PlayStation Network. It’s been reported that Take-Two, parent company of Rockstar games and therefore owner of arguably the biggest and most lucrative entertainment product of all time, has decided to shutter two of its studios as part of its recently-revealed plans to lay off 600 employees and cancel in-development projects. A brand-new Batman: Arkham game is on the way from WB Games, although it’s not the Rocksteady-developed major sequel many would have loved to see in place of this year’s Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. PlayStation has revealed the line-up of games that PlayStation Plus Essential (and beyond) subscribers will be able to add to their libraries in May, and the usual trio of new additions is being joined by a fourth this month with the addition of the Destiny 2: Lightfall expansion. Square Enix has made a fairly bold announcement to its investors overnight, revealing that it’s chosen to take a ¥22.1 billion (almost $220 million AUD) hit in what it’s calling “content abandonment losses” that will be reflected in its books for the financial year ending March 2024.
