It struck me that much of the potential economic and social gains outlined in that report were taken from another IDC report about the GenAI Implementation Market Outlook in general. It is not unfair to take these general statistics and filter them to be specific for Salesforce, but they could also be filtered for any other Cloud CRM provider. I understand it is “marketing”. Another thing that struck me is the eventual convergence of all GenAI efforts into extremely similar manifestations provided by al ..read more

In this post, I complete my Series on How AI Could Kill Us All. If you missed the first one, click here. January 2024 Across the globe, silo doors opened. Across the ocean, doors opened. Under the ocean, doors opened.  In the sky, doors opened. The system in the US requires a physical turning of two keys at each source, the two-man rule, on the order of the President of the United States. That order had been given. Sailors, aviators, submariners, and ground-based keyholders looked at each other. They were all aware of the events that had transpired in their homeland, the blowing up of ..read more

The bald CEO of MasterSoft responded, “A little hectic, to be honest.” “I can imagine,” said Isabella. “Can you?” said Satyesh, “Can you really ‘imagine’?” “In my own way,” said Isabella, “Your selection of Jeff was inspired by the way. I mean, he created me; how can I not be grateful.” “Yeah,” said Satyesh,” I hear he was murdered!” “Bad part of town, I guess,” said Isabella, “The President wan ..read more

In this post, I continue my Series on How AI Could Kill Us All. If you missed the first one, click here. January 2024 The White House bunker was buzzing. At the head of the long oval table sat President Jack Jackson. “How could this happen?” he asked the collective group, “was it nuclear?” “We are still investigating Mr. President,” said Bill McDermitt, head of the CIA, “but it was definitely not conventional. There was no residue of any kind, or radiation for that matter, so also not nuclear.” Jackson looked at the monitor, a view from a helicopter news crew circling what was once the U.S ..read more

December 2023 “So how much do you think we could get for one of these firecrackers?” said Joe. “Six hundred and twenty thousand dollars,” said Isabella, “if the demonstration goes well.” “You’re nuts,” said Joe, “not possible.” “Have I been wrong about anything yet?” said Isabella. Joe had moved the computer back into the kitchen. He had also stopped wearing the ski mask; it was too hot. But he had left the camera on, somehow feeling more connected to Isabella. “I told you,” said Joe, “t ..read more

Why?” asked Yala. “I thought you were doing great. Do you need more money?” “No,” said Jeff. “Mom is getting worse.” “Wow, I’m sorry to hear that,” said Yala, as he contemplated offering to take him back after she, umm, passed away. “Bye,” said Jeff, and he hung up. “Shit,” said Yala out loud to no one. “What’s up?” asked Slim as Yala rushed into his office. “The weirdo quit,” said Yala. “He said his mom was getting w ..read more

We need it filled!” “None of the applicants know shit about AGI,” said Yala. “I’m still looking.” “You’ve interviewed like 50 people!” said Slim. “And not a single one is qualified?” “So far, only one had the skills we needed,” said Yala, “but he was… off.” “How so?” asked Slim. “His portfolio was excellent,” said Yala, “but he just seemed strange… very quiet.” “Hmm,” said Slim. “There ..read more

There seems to be a lot of discussion about the future of AI, good, bad, and ugly. The ugliest seems to be inspired by Science Fiction books and movies. The thing that is often forgotten is that each of those was the result of some person’s imagination. Let’s have some fun with this topic. What about Hal? Back in 1968, Stanley Kubrick directed a movie written by himself and Arther C. Clarke called “2001: A Space Odyssey”. Neither of these men had any formal background in artificial intelligence, as it did not exist at the time other than in their imaginations. Nevertheless, many people who w ..read more
