INT. JERRY’S APARTMENT – DAY [Jerry is sitting on the couch, reading a newspaper. Steve bursts into the apartment, looking excited.] Steve: Jerry, I’ve got a great idea for the Mets! Dollar hot dog night! [Jerry looks up from his newspaper, unimpressed.] Jerry: (sarcastically) Wow, what an original idea. Steve: (confused) What do you mean? It’s a great promotion! Jerry: (sighing)The Phillies had dollar hot dog night for years. They had to stop because fans were throwing hot dogs on the field and having food fights. Steve: (dismissively) Oh, come on. That won’t happen with our fans. Jerry: (ra ..read more

LOL a Mets NEW CULTURE article

Andy Martino has written about the Mets new culture, based on the leadership of second choice panic move manager Carlos Mendoza (whose name I couldn’t remember and had to look up.) The Mets new culture should not be confused with any of these. Oh man, a World Series within 5 years!  That’s great!  It’s great to have an adult in the room and a new culture of winning! Well except for this… Steve is in year 4. Or this new culture… or this guy you forgot about which led to this emergency new culture or this… …which led to this emergency new culture which all came after someone Ho ..read more

I guess as shorts to these are ok although pricey.  Also they are going out their way to say special event item – in my experience that means that they may not exist unless a bunch get sold.  I’ve had jerseys never-happen               The post Mets City Connect Shorts appeared first on The Mets Police ..read more

Very wearable as a civilian. The bridge is subtle. It’s a very very very very dark gray, not all the way black.  Low crown because I am not Vanilla Ice. seen here in natural daylight    Just out of the box  already looks sweat stained The post My Mets City Connect cap appeared first on The Mets Police ..read more

Do the @Mets not realize their social media icon can’t be seen?

To promote City Connect, the Mets have been using this Hey guys – we can’t see it. Here’s what it looks like in line Kind of a big nothing.  I don’t get it.  Do you think having a logo nobody can see is going to excite people? Also, if you know New York, you know it’s the 7 TRAIN.   The post Do the @Mets not realize their social media icon can’t be seen? appeared first on The Mets Police ..read more

2024 Mets Armed Forces Day Cap PLUS Why I don’t post as much

Uni Watch has details of the Armed Forced Day caps for this year.  Here’s a look at the horribly cluttered Mets design. By the way, while I have a free moment…. WHY I DON’T POST AS MUCH A huge reason is the changes Elon Musk made to twitter.  Posts don’t get the reach they once did.  This also contributed to why I stopped watching games.  I used to hold court on twitter during games and interact with many fans and it was a good community hang.  You don’t see that sort of thing nowadays.  Even people I actively interact with (say @mediagoon) for an example) – I of ..read more

THE PLAN: So what did Steve Cohen do, he let the Dodgers sign all the big targets

It’s all part of the plan ESPN wrote about The Plan (version 63), but I haven’t had time to digest it. This caught my eye. Cohen assumed controlling interest of his favorite team in 2020. When that happened, Cohen set the tone of his early stewardship with an answer to a question about which franchise he’d like to see his team emulate: “I like what the Dodgers are doing,” Cohen said before elaborating on the various methods he hoped the Mets could adopt. Which is weird, because that’s not what the Mets did this season.  But maybe I need to read the thing.  I’m busy today. The post ..read more

Mets City Connect: The 7 Line is a T-Shirt company, the 7 TRAIN is the subway

Nitpick about the City Connect descriptions… The 7-Line: In the City’s most diverse borough, there is one train that represents all New Yorkers equally and brings you to our home. We weave purple throughout this uniform as an homage to the ultimate connector – The 7-Line. Here’s the thing.  Nobody calls it The 7 Line.  The 7 Line is an apparel company founded by Darren Meenan (who I am mad at because his brand is using a vulgarized version of LGM and Darren knows better.) The subway which you are seeking to emote is known as  the 7 Train.  I grew up half a block from Roo ..read more

Queens Crew profile

With everything going right for Steve this week – City Connect, beating Yamamoto – I figured we should go back to making fun of things, and what’s an easier target than the Queens Crew. You remember the Queens Crew? They were hyped up before the season and since Opening Day I don’t think they’ve been mentioned.  NBC has profiled them, in which we learn Auditions to join The Queens Crew were held in January, which brought in hundreds of local contestants. According to an expired job posting found on Backstage, the dance team is meant to reflect “the diverse culture, edgy style, and vibra ..read more
