Meet the Mets
The Mets bounced back against the Cubs on Tuesday night, winning 4-2. Receiving strong pitching performances for the third straight day, D.J. Stewart was the hero of the night, hitting what would end up being the game-winning three-run homer in the sixth inning.

Triple-A: Syracuse Mets (15-11)
SYRACUSE 14, ROCHESTER 5 (BOX)
Dom Hamel didn’t exactly have his best stuff, but it didn’t really matter too much, as Syracuse absolutely destroyed Rochester. Starter Jackson Rutledge got tagged for four runs in five innings, old friend Stephen Nogosek gave up 2 runs in 0.2 innings of work, and T.J. Zeuch allowed seven runs in an inning. The only Red Wing pitcher who was worth his weight was another old friend, Robert Gsellman; he tossed two-plu ..read more

DJ Stewart provided the Mets the big hit they didn’t get Monday night to push the Mets past Chicago.
So far this year, the Mets have been one of the most reliant teams on the home run across baseball. This has played out even more in recent days, as three of the Mets’ four runs on Sunday and their only run on Monday were all via the home run. When the Mets are slugging, they win. And tonight, one big slug from DJ Stewart was the keynote shot that they needed to beat the Cubs by a score of 4-2.

Mark Vientos optioned to Triple-A
After missing the last three games due to a stint on the Bereavement List, the Mets reinstated outfielder Starling Marte ahead of tonight’s game against the Cubs. In a subsequent move, infielder Mark Vientos was optioned to Triple-A Syracuse.
After a very down year in 2023, Marte has been off to a strong start in 2024, hitting .288./327/.442 with four home runs and four doubles in 25 games.
Vientos, in his three games, went three for seven with a game-winning home run in extra innings for the Mets’ sole victory against the Cardina ..read more

Meet the Mets
On a night when Luis Severino came six out away from baseball immortality, the Mets ended up enduring a gut-wrenching 3-1 loss to the Cubs. Brandon Nimmo led off the game with a home run, but the Mets would not score again and only managed three base hits the rest of the way. For a while, it seemed like it might hold up, as Severino was mowing down the Chicago batters in quick succession. He finally relented in the eighth, serving up a single to Dansby Swanson. Severino allowed no hits through seven innings, and the Mets failed to capitalize.
The Mets came into today with two straight series losses to the Giants and Cardinals. They had Luis Severino on the mound, coming off a loss against San Francisco where he gave up three runs in six innings. The Cubs were coming into town doing pretty well, sitting comfortably in second place in the Central and Jameson Taillon taking the mound for them. The Mets were hoping to continue the good vibes after the Mark Vientos walk-off home run the day before.
