It seems like every other day, someone is blowing out their UCL and needing Tommy John Surgery. The Dodgers have had their share – Buehler, Gonsolin, May, Frasso, et al. What can be done to stop this? Can anything be done to stop this? I have been listening to all of the talk about this problem for a couple of weeks… and it is a growing problem. However, I do not believe there is just “one thing” that is causing it.
What really could be causing it?
Everyone throws every pitch with maximum velocity. Whether it’s a fastball at 98 MPH or a slider at 92 MPH, just about every pitcher is throwing e ..read more

The two teams that played in the World Series last year are at .500; both are 8-8. The Brewers are 10-4, and the Pirates are 11-5. The Yankees are 12-4, and the Guardians are 10-5. I think it’s a good bet that of those six teams, the majority will not make the playoffs. The Dodgers are 11-7, and Dodgers fans are moaning and groaning because they expected a super team to go 162-0.
The Dodgers are doing it differently this year. They don’t want to run away from the field and clinch this in June. Now, I am not suggesting they are losing on purpose, but it is a damn long season, and we know that W ..read more

This happens every year – some player gets off to a bad start, and fans start calling for their ouster. It’s early – Chill!
Outman, Kike, Lux, and Taylor are all off the bad starts. I am not worried! They all have less than 50 ABs. I will start worrying at around the 100-150 mark. We see this every year.
Bobby Miller and Conner Brogden had recent poor performances and the reason was INJURY. Miller has shoulder issues and Brogden has foot issues. Now we get to see LH Nick Ramirez and JP Feyereisen. Let’s hope they are healthy.
If the players in platoons want more PT, all they have to do is Hit ..read more

As we speak, Mookie Betts is listed as the Dodger’s starting shortstop, but against tough LHP he slides over to 2B, as Gavin Lux is deemed a liability against lefties and Miguel Rojas plays SS. Miguel still plays SS at a very high level and he does hit LHP better than RHP as a rule. This year, he is OPS’ing .818 against LHP and 1.000 against RHP, but obviously, that is skewed by the small sample.
Still, I think the platoon of Mookie and Miguel at SS is sustainable. The likelihood that Gavin Lux can hit LHP better is also on the table, but if you look into his history in the minors and the majo ..read more

If Fickler is not a word, then I just invented it! If you haven’t been paying attention, relief pitchers are a fickle group. If you say that something is fickle, you mean that it often changes and is unreliable, and that would be the correct definition of relief pitchers… especially left-handed relief pitchers. Many Dodger fans wanted to trade the farm (Vargas, Pages, Busch, Frasso, et al) for David Bednar of the Pirates. The Pirates are doing very well with a 9-3 record. David Bednar has had four save opportunities and has blown three of them this season. He has a 12.46 ERA, and the leag ..read more

James Outman got a couple of hits, including a 3-run HR last night. As huge as Tyler Glasnows’ night was (7 IP/14 K’s/3 H/0 BB), the Dodgers needed James to get resurrected, and he is certainly trending in the right direction. This bodes well for the team, and now, if only someone could perform CPR on CT3! If he doesn’t wake up soon, they will have to give him “last rites!”

I took a lot of flack last season because of James Outman. Much of it came from Eric, who disappeared this year when the going got tough for James. Eric evidently can dish it out, but he can’t take it! I sometimes think he loves James Outman more than the Dodgers. He also seems to hate Miguel Vargas, but many of you do because you hate it when I am right! To those of you think I do not want James Outman to succeed. I will politely say that you are out of your rabbit-ass minds.
The Dodgers need James to play well, although I have lowered my expectations for him. James is going to start against ..read more

Sure, you never like to have three errors, but that’s not what lost the game for the Dodgers. They didn’t hit. That’s why they lost – pure and simple. It’s not time to panic on Outman, Lux, Kike, and CT3… but what is up? Pages and Vargas are packing their bags at OKC… maybe Sweeney too.
I have to get out of here soon as I am headed to Cleveland Clinic today for an appointment tomorrow to see if I can get my A-Fib fixed. I am staying at the Intercontinental Hotel in Cleveland, which is connected to the Clinic. It’s a very nice hotel. I am going to Cleveland Clinic because they are continually r ..read more

Quite often, that is the difference between success or failure for a pitcher or hitter: One Pitch – One Swing! Look at Bobby Miller yesterday. He struck out the side in the first inning and could not get out of the second inning after allowing five runs. One Pitch! Several Times! The Dodgers are 7-3, which is on pace to win 113 games, and some Dodger fans are losing their minds. “Michael Grove is killing us.” Last week, it was Alex Vesia – now his ERA is 1.80. “Max Muncy needs to sit.” Yeah, we go through this every year.
If I were a James Outman hater like some of you think, I would call for ..read more

Before we start, SCdodgerFan asked what Mookie Betts writes in the dirt before each AB. Answer: Mookie writes his grandma’s initials in the dirt. There you go!
The Tulsa Drillers Opening Day Roster is allegedly set and was released on Thursday. This is the most interesting Dodger Minor League team for me this year for reasons I will discuss later. Here it is:
Justin Wrobleski will be the opening-day starter, and it would not surprise me to see three catchers in the lineup: Yenier Fernandez at 2B, Dalton Rushing at 1B, and Diego Cartaya at C. Bradon Fisher was on OKC’s Roster, b ..read more
