How art has helped me on my brain tumour journey, and will continue to do so… In June 2022 I had my 3rd craniotomy.  The surgeon managed to remove the regrowth as well as some remaining tumour from previous debulking. Once I was healed up again I was put on a different chemotherapy, Lomustine. This was over 6 months. Vorasidenib now available to some Glioma patients

Vorasidenib and its potential for brain tumour treatment has made the headlines again. You may recall the phase III INDIGO study showed that Vorasidenib may help some people with grade 2 glioma live longer without brain tumour growth. Vorasidenib targets specific genetic changes called IDH mutations that are commonly found in grade 2 gliomas, which mainly affect people who are young and otherwise healthy. It showed that Vorasidenib delays disease progression in grade 2 glioma with an IDH mutation by an average of 27.7 months, compared to 11.1 months for those taking a placebo. A ..read more

NICE approves new treatment that reduces harm for children with a brain tumour

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) has approved the combination of dabrafenib and trametinib for patients aged one and over with either low-grade or high-grade glioma with the genetic mutation BRAF V600E. Gliomas are the most common type of brain cancer in children and young people. These tumours develop from the glial cells, which support the nerve cells of the brain and spinal cord.
