When I dream about a holiday spot, a place I can go every year for weeks on end to relax, enjoy and spend quality time with family and friends, there are very few places that come to mind. Dromana, along the Mornington Peninsula, is of course the first place I think of. Both practically and sentimentally, it’s my go to place, my home away from home. It’s an hour drive away with cosy accommodation at my disposal. It’s surrounded by beauty, stretches of coastline in one direction, and an abundance of wine country and nature in the other. There’s a lot to love. But when I extend my thinking bey ..read more

Rustic Galettes with Seasonal Fruit

I’m currently in France as I write to you today, in the beautiful costal town of Cassis to be precise, and I have a delicious fruit galette recipe to share. The recipe came about a few weeks ago, after a few busy days exploring Paris – yeah, I know crazy to think these photos were taken in Paris! It was our first time visiting the beautiful city so there was a LOT on the agenda – sights to see, croissants to eat and restaurants to dine in. And this came after 10 days of doing similar in Amsterdam, so it was only natural that by our last day we needed some good old R&R, a day to sleep in ..read more

Gluten Free Hot Cross Buns

A few years ago I created and shared a Spelt Hot Cross Bun recipe – it was life changing. Eating freshly baked hot cross buns, steaming from the oven, lathered in butter, was not something I had done for years prior. With this recipe in tow, I started eating a bun a day in the lead up to Easter. True bliss. Organic, sieved spelt flour is flagged as low FODMAP in the Monash FODMAP App, and is what I use in the Spelt Hot Cross Bun recipe. This was (and still is) great for me, great for others who can tolerate spelt, however not so great for my strictly gluten free readers, those who perhaps hav ..read more

Orange & Poppy Seed Layer Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting

It’s party time here, but probably not for what you’re thinking… Three crazy good things have happened to me recently. The cause for party time and eating this Orange and Poppy Seed Layer Cake ;) I’m eating mushrooms (new fave food) I’m eating cauliflower (like every meal) And I’ve been dabbling in garlic Oh yeah, and it’s all been symptom-free! For a long time, I’ve been resigned to the fact I would never enjoy high FODMAP food symptom-free again. Six years of low FODMAP, may as well be forever, right? Wrong actually. After over a year of active gut healing, I’ve successfully reintrod ..read more

Hello and happy new year my dear friends! I hope you are well and feeling fresh after a relaxing and fun break. I was lucky enough to have spent 9 days by the beach along the Mornington Peninsula, eating way too much delicious food and recharging the batteries. My days were primarily filled with reading, cooking, maybe a swim or two, walking, playing cards and chit-chatting with loved ones. It was lovely, just what I needed! It sure has been awhile between posts and I barely know how to begin writing when I leave it for so long. Since we last spoke, I have traveled to Japan, celebrated a spec ..read more

Wow, how time is flying by. It’s already Spring and I’m still dishing out my wintery recipes. Oh well, I guess it’s not too late for those of us further away from the equator. I have no doubt it will be winter down here for another few weeks. In fact, as I write this, I’m peering out the window to a grey and misty darkness. I’m sipping on tea of course because that’s what afternoon’s call for, and I’m day dreaming of sunny days. Not too long now. Glimpses of sunshine are growing in numbers, and my travel to Japan is looming in the now foreseeable future. ‘Foreseeable future’ defined as –resc ..read more

Coconut and Herb Rice Salad with Caramelised Fennel

I’ve fallen a bit behind on my four recipes in four weeks promise. Weeks seem to be flying by faster than I can keep up. Work is busy, but fun busy, which is good, and Japlanning (Japan planning) for the end of the year is in full swing. But that means it’s looking more like it will be four recipes in five to six weeks, not four! But don’t worry, we’ll get there! This rice salad is the third of the four recipes I created for Pureharvest as their August Favourite Foodie, this time using their certified organic coconut milk, Coco Quench. The previous two dishes you can find here and here, and t ..read more

It’s rich and decad ..read more
