Where have all the beer styles gone? Recently we were reminiscing about our beer journey, including some of the first Aussie brews we drank on a fairly regular basis. People often talk about the extended beer landscape and how old styles are finding space in the fridges again, yet it’s new trends in beer that dominate social media feeds and create the buzz. It’s all about hazy bois, a trend that really took off at GABS 2016 and hasn’t seemed to die down since. With growing opportunities for breweries to put their spin on styles, what happened to some of the stalwarts of the brewing scene fro ..read more

2024 update: after we received our very first order of Hop On Brewery Tours stickers from the team at OzStickerPrinting, an excellent Aussie-run sticker printing business, we were hooked. The team provided us with an example of some of their products, which we fell in love with. The team here has always talked about ways to promote further marketing, whether through giveaways, gifts, promotional material and more, and stickers are always at the top of the list. These stickers have been here for two years! Don’t they look fantstic?! With so many promo stickers out in the wild that are too st ..read more

A beer without a name What do you think of when you see the names Fat Tire, Mirror Pond, Delerium Tremens, Dead Guy, Death from Above, Pliny the Elder, Fat Yak, Tripel Karmeliet or Super Hornet? Ok, some of those are from the US and may not be as instantly recognisable as others, but can you immediately picture the beer? Do you know what style of beer it is? Does it matter to you that the brewery name isn’t mentioned alongside the name of the beer? Can you even name the brewer of Delerium Tremens* without Googling it? Why is this trend on a downward spiral? It’s time to revisit and update a ..read more

The past couple weeks have been very exciting for the team at Hop On Brewery Tours. After more than six years in operation, we decided to take the big step forward and enter into a few Australian awards this year, and to our surprise and delight we have been selected as a finalist in the Australian Small Business Championship Awards 2022. Out of over 3,500 entries, we have earned our spot as a finalist in the Tourism category of the awards, with winners announced at their Gala Dinner on September 3rd – keep your fingers crossed! Why go on a brewery tour? Part 2 – value for money

Why go on a brewery tour (instead of a pub crawl with your mates)? Recently we were informed in a post-tour review that our tours were “pricey”, which was a surprise to us because most feedback is that our offerings represent excellent value for money. Out of over 6,000 guests (!), there have been almost no instances of anyone finishing the day wishing there had been more to drink or a feeling that there weren’t enough options throughout the afternoon. We promise to keep you well hydrated. Our brewery tour experiences have a high rate of return guests because they know that they will get excel ..read more

Discrimination and Diversity in Craft Beer The Beer Industry Diversity Survey, conducted by Beer Agents For Change, is a startling reflection on the industry we know and love. Working in the craft beer industry is amazing. There are perks like having the occasional beer shouted when you run into brewers you know at a festival, or brewers lending equipment to new breweries just starting up, or even the broader community proudly supporting their local favourite by buying special release beers, merchandise, and so on. What’s not so amazing are the results of the Beer Industry Diversity Survey (se ..read more

Rainy day? We’ve got you covered! The time of year has arrived when torrential downpours are the norm. After a year or so of being stuck indoors for a higher amount of time than usual, everyone is ready to get out and explore their own back yard. We’re checking out new restaurants, supporting local businesses, meeting friends for coffee, and hitting the beach…. until it starts raining. And as the saying goes, when it rains, it pours – especially in Queensland. Whether you’re on the Gold Coast or in Brisbane, there are plenty of outdoor activities in which to take part, from surfing to visiting ..read more

The Original and Best Brewery Tours in Queensland

What do we mean when we market ourselves as the original and best brewery tour in SE Queensland? Registering our business in October, 2015, we had done our due diligence. We made sure we weren’t stepping on anyone’s toes and that no Brisbane brewery tours were already running. We wanted our business to be unique, to bring something new to the offerings in Brisbane and, eventually, the Gold Coast. We found nothing. No websites or Facebook pages indicating that we were too late, that our idea was a carbon copy of a successful business showcasing the growing craft beer scene around Southeast Quee ..read more
