The London Marathon returns, and TeamCAFOD is back bigger and better than ever! On Sunday 7 April 2024, over 18,000 people ran through the heart of London, weaving through the iconic landmarks, to complete the extraordinary London Landmarks Half Marathon. Among them we saw five incredible TeamCAFOD runners cross the finish line.

With the weather forecasting wind gusts of up to 40mph, TeamCAFOD braced themselves for an even more challenging race than planned. As if running 13 miles isn’t hard enough!

St Catherine of Siena is a lesson to us all
In 1378 St Catherine of Siena travelled to Florence to negotiate peace with Rome. Catherine of Sienna was not only a mystic who revived the stigmata, but she was also a hugely influential woman who was deeply involved in the political issues of her time.
Most of her advocacy work was done in writing: St Catherine encountered others through her letters.

The 40 days of Lent are drawing to a close, and next week is Holy Week. Whether you have been part of the Big Lent Walk or not, there is still time for you to join in the Walk to Easter!

As we continue our Lent journey, Marie-France, a CAFOD volunteer from Southwark Diocese, reflects on what the season means to her.
For me, Lent is a time of profound introspection and spiritual renewal. It’s a period where I intentionally carve out moments for self-reflection, prayer, and deepening my relationship with God. Fr Tony Convery, a retired priest from the Diocese of Westminster, is taking on the Big Lent Walk this year. Neil Roper from CAFOD’s Events Team went to meet him for a walk around Hampstead Heath.
One cold and slightly damp late February afternoon, Fr Tony and Neil went for a Big Lent Walk on Hampstead Heath.
