One of our biggest passions at LMP (alongside Pilates) is pasta. Having tried plenty of plates between us, we’ve curated our favourite pasta places for you to try! Last week the LMP team, had a self care day where I taught them Pilates and then we went to Artusi in Peckham for bowls of pasta followed by cake, it inspired me to share the Pasta love! Manteca The best place to come with friends and over order on sharing plates. The kale pesto is a must try and an honourable mention has to go to the duck ragu. Whether you have been following my journey with LMP for a while or have recently joined our community, I wanted to introduce myself and give us a chance to catch up off the mat! What drew you to become a pilates teacher? I discovered Pilates while training at ballet school when I was 16. My time on my mat doing Pilates was such a peaceful and calm time compared to the rest of my training. Pilates not only kept my body injury free, supple and strong but it encouraged my mind to be more still. I trained to become a Pilates teacher when I was 20 and never looked back. When I started teaching, it ..read more

1 Year of Motherhood: a reflection
Lottie Murphy Journal
by Lottie Murphy

Trigger warning/ disclaimer: this post is written from my point of view of labour, birth and my first year of motherhood. It describes a not so positive birth. I am not an expert. This is simply an honest account of my personal experience. “She was a mother. This identity shuddered through her, welcome like water to a dry riverbed. It felt so elemental and true that Julia must have unknowingly been a mother all along, simply waiting to be joined by her child.” “She realised, amazed: I love myself. That had somehow never been true before.” The above two quotes are from a few pages in the book H ..read more

(This is a journal post and newsletter from 2019 that I deleted but felt it needed to live here) At the start of this year I suffered severely with anxiety, depression and intrusive thoughts. As I recovered I questioned whether to talk about my mental health experience openly, would it bring it all back or make things worse? I spoke to my therapist and psychiatrist about this and they said Lottie if you’ve suffered you’re in a much better place to help others, to help others feel less alone. My experience has opened that door for me. I don’t know all the answers but I will share with you a lit ..read more

Whilst I am all for the idea of celebrating love with my partner or gal pals, I’m proposing an alternative Valentines Day - one which puts your needs at the heart of it! I asked our LMP team how their dream solo date would look and would love to hear yours. Whether it’s buying yourself a bunch of flowers or wandering around an art gallery, I hope this inspires you to book a romantic date with yourself. Lottie I would sit for hours in a cosy and chic independent book store with a hot chocolate, reading and browsing books. I love Rye Books because it’s dog-friendly so Lenny can be cosied up with ..read more
