It’s been almost a year since my last post here! And what a year it has been. We welcomed a third baby boy to our family and all three of kids are keeping me busy. We are slowly finding our new routines and now that baby boy is eating solids, I can find some more time during the weekends to make some new recipes. It’s so good to get back into the kitchen and experiment with all the recipes I was saving on my phone’s notes for the past year. So without further ado, here is the first recipe this year – a vegan version of Greek Spinach Pie or Spanakopita. We are bringing some summer into our hom ..read more

Korenčkovi mufini z ušeski

Read in English. Pozdravljena pomlad! In pozdravljani vsi zajčki in cvetoči vrtovi!

Hello spring! And hi there, bunnies and flowering gardens! Who else is excited about warmer days spent outside? I am for sure. And although we don’t celebrate Easter in a traditional way, I still like to make it fun for the kids and maybe teach them a thing or two along the way. And carrot cake is a must for every Easter brunch, isn’t it? I had this cute idea of creating bunnies with blooming branches and flowers, but weather didn’t agree with me, so they are more rustic now, but still so adorable. And as excited as I was about my pumpkin muffins recipe, this one is now ..read more

Vegan lasagna rolls
Dear Kitchen!

preberi v slovenščini Lasagna rolls are a lasagna in a different shape, but still made with vegan bolognese sauce and ricotta made from cashew nuts. In our house they are often on the menu, because kids love them more than regular lasagna. Cooking them is very similar, only the assembly will take a bit more of your time. I personally find them lighter and they are easier to cut and divide on the plates. And they are definitely more fun! I would recommend starting the ricotta a day before – just soak the cashews overnight. The ricotta is also great as a spread on bread or as a base for ..read more

Veganski lazanjini zvitki
Dear Kitchen!

Lamington layered cake with raspberry jam

This one brings back the memories for me! My grandma used to make lamingtons (we called them kuštravci – as a person with bed hair day) and it was one of my favourite desserts. So this year for my birthday I decided (after realising chocolate cake will probably trigger my morning sickness) to try and make it into a cake. It started more with just thinking about the flavours that suited my stomach at the time, but when I saw it all together it was like I was describing lemingtons! Later I found out I wasn’t the first one to go down this road, so it was easier to adapt a few recipes, to make a ..read more

Green Beans and Potato Curry
Dear Kitchen!

With school and nurseries opening up, and my husband still working from home, I am cooking some dishes, I know my kids wouldn’t touch. If you are following me on Instagram, you probably know we have another little one on the way. And my morning sickness this time around is through the roof! So, yes, I made us a curry, because we adore Indian food, but it’s a very mild version. My husband added some chilli flakes on top to make it hotter, but as far as spiciness goes, I think it’s a perfect amount for picky eaters and easy on the tastebuds. A lot of recipes I read, instructed to cook the p ..read more

Cinnamon Hazelnut Rolls

I have this simple and delicious recipe for you, just in time for the holidays. They were inspired by dinner rolls (which are savoury), but I knew kids will love something sweet too, so I made a Cinnamon Hazelnut Roll version. If you’ve been following me some time, you might know I like versatile recipes, so I am giving you two options for the filling here (well actually it’s more like skipping one ingredient). These Cinnamon Hazelnut Rolls are very festive, soft and fluffy, packed with Christmas flavours and good for breakfast or dinner, or a desert in between. The second option for the fill ..read more

Vegan Hazelnut Chocolate Spread

It’s a busy time of the year and my mind is already escaping to the Christmas and gifting. Last year we were gifting our friends jars of homemade vegan hazelnut spread (nutela) and you guys asked for the recipe. Well it took me long enough to take the pictures and a video (it’s on my Instagram page) and below you will find a recipe. The recipe is not a healthy version without sugar, it’s just a homemade spread without milk or any nasty ingredients. It’s still sweet and chocolatey, full of flavour and so good you’ll find yourself eating it with a spoon! You’ll see I wrote you need powdered ..read more

Kids room makeover

If you follow us on Instagram, you know we bought a flat in Slovenia. And no, we are not moving (yet), but we made an investment to buy and renovate + possibly let short term once the whole situation calms down and people start travelling again. Meanwhile, we are renovating room by room and the first one we did was the kids room. This is such a special room wherever we live and it’s always the one I put my attention to first. We are very happy with how the room turned out and we spent most our days in in, when we were in Slovenia. Before we did the make over, the room was all fitted furniture ..read more
