On Tuesday 29th October the Health and Sport Committee will meet at the Scottish Parliament to consider the future of Glasgow’s NHS Centre for Integrative Care (CIC) formerly the Glasgow Homeopathic Hospital. Germany’s Health Minister, Jens Spahn has urged a government panel to continue funding homeopathy via the country’s statutory health insurance scheme. Speaking in Berlin last week, the minister said he saw little point in forcing Germany’s health funds to drop homeopathy, pointing out that costs of state funded reimbursements for homeopathic remedies amounted to €20 million, compared to €40 billion for medicines as a whole.
