Key Lime Pie is a southern staple. A quintessential favorite. And a tart little number. Because sometimes you just need a dessert that feels light. And refreshing. And that’s not chocolate. Wait. Did I really just say that?!?! It’s shocking, I know, and it doesn’t happen very often for me. But when it does, I’m a citrus kinda gal. And an easy Key Lime Pie is my go-to. Actually, my grandfather used to be the Key Lime Pie maker in our family. Which is funny, because my grandmother did all of the cooking. But this pie was his baby. And he made his without eggs. So basically a very fluffy, non-ba ..read more

Well, I did it. I overwatered my poor little haworthia. And he did not like it. At all. Because he went all mushy at the base and collapsed over into a little pile of sadness. But since I love me any little haworthia plantie, I knew I had to try my best to save him. I mean, haworthias are just cutie pies. And the fact that you can see the windowpanes for photosynthesis at the end of each leaf. My science heart just pitter-patters. And let me tell you, this guy needed a huge intervention. I think Noah called and is looking for his ark. Because we’ve had so much rain in 2020 the ducks are looking for dry land. And our umbrellas are overworked. And we’ve forgotten what the sunshine looks like. Seriously, I don’t ever remember a January and February that have had so much rain. And March is following suit. So I needed a little rain humor. Like the childhood saying, “Rain, rain, go away. Come again another day. Little Traci wants to play.” Remember that one? Well Traci wants to go outside. As does her Old English Sheepdog, Finley. The working dog who needs outdoor ..read more

Winter was long. Stress levels were high. And Bailey and I needed a serious dose of beach therapy. So enter Beaufort. And her cousin, Hunting Island. Beach mission so accomplished. Now chances are good that you’ve seen Beaufort, South Carolina. And you probably didn’t even realize it. Because it has that quintessential Southern vibe that Hollywood looks for. And then showcases in box office hits. Like “The Big Chill” in 1983. And the “Prince of Tides” in 1989. And “Forrest Gump” in 2001. Yep. All filmed in Beaufort. So this charmer was founded in 1711 on Port Royal Island an ..read more
