Welcome to the latest edition of TLFG. How was your week?  I didn't see any live football, most of my focus was on a job interview I had on Thursday - hopefully I'll have some news on that one way or another in the next week or two. My teams had a very mixed weekend. After superb back-to-back wins over Birmingham and Swansea to pull themselves six points clear of the relegation zone, QPR lost 2-0 at home to Sheffield Wednesday who were and still are in the bottom three! I'm heading to the THS on Sunday and you could be too - tickets Harrow Borough are pretty much down but still m ..read more

Greetings one and all and welcome to TLFG's Non-League Day Special. I can't quite believe it's that time of year again, the weeks fly by so fast but here we are with just five days to go. Every year I wonder how much further myself and the team can take the event but something new keeps cropping up to move things to another level. Last year it was La Liga giants Athletic Bilbao getting involved, something which is very much continuing this weekend too. This time round it has been my employer South Western Railway committing to do more or less whatever they can to help raise awareness. The last ..read more

Welcome to this week's TLFG. It's been another busy few days on the Non-League Day (NLD) preparation front with things looking very positive in several areas. On Wednesday I headed down to Corinthian Casuals in Tolworth to film some promotional material with the press team from South Western Railway (SWR) who are partnering us for the first time this year. I'm sure you'll see bits of that appear on social media at various points over the next couple of weeks. Probably one of the most fun things about that was a huge rail ticket they'd had been produced with 'Non-League Day 2024 ..read more

Welcome to TLFG for the first full week of March - spring is finally here, well at least it's been quite sunny today. It's been another busy few days on the Non-League Day (NLD) preparation front with things looking very positive in several areas. Our showpiece game, which several of our partners will be focusing on, looks like being the National League fixture between Eastleigh and Hartlepool United down near Southampton. It's one of 10 games around the country which our charity partners Prostate Cancer UK will be having a presence at. This year's Non-League Day is now less than three w ..read more

Greetings and welcome to the Leap Year edition of TLFG. Yes, the quadrennial occurrence that is 29 February takes place on Thursday. And does it bring us anything special I hear you ask?  Well, not really - unless you're into youth and development football in which case there's a few things going on. After having last week off and getting to see a few games, this week has seen me at work every day and I'm here right now at Waterloo station writing this. This year's Non-League Day is now less than a month away The most interesting work-related thing I did was get trained on the ne ..read more

You join me at the end of a weekend which has left me in a very good mood indeed. As regular readers know I have an interest in three teams - QPR in men's pro football, Harrow Borough in non-league and Actonians in women's football. I'm pleased to report that all had important games and all of them won! QPR are fighting relegation from the Championship and won 1-0 at Bristol City to leave them just one point adrift of safety. Harrow Borough were 12 points adrift of safety the last time I looked but Saturday's 3-1 win at fellow strugglers Swindon Supermarine cut the gap to six points. Lastly, A ..read more

Welcome to TLFG Valentine's Week Special - not really, I don't have time for any of that! What's the most eventful Valentine's Day (VD) you've ever had? Mine saw me have my appendix removed when I was 14. There was also a time at university, when myself and a colleague who ran the hall of residence sports and social committee spent ages writing homemade cards to every woman in the building to make sure no-one missed out - make of that what you will. With VD falling on a Wednesday this year, some clubs have games. Have you seen any great offers from the clubs for that 'special person in your li ..read more

Greetings one and all and welcome to the latest edition of TLFG. This week has been incredibly hectic again as I've tried to juggle this blog, Non-League Day preparations here and in the Basque Country, a job application, my normal work commitments, my eldest daughter's birthday and her subsequent party! Somehow I also managed to squeeze in a football away day on Sunday afternoon and that's why I'm still writing at 1030pm  and still have a match report to produce for that game before I can go to bed. The away day in question involved my beloved Actonians who headed to Sussex to play Haywa ..read more

Welcome to this week's TLFG, I hope you're well. Sickness has been another big feature of the last few days in TLFG Towers and I've had to take the weekend off work to play nurse to my wife and kids, consequently there's been no live football. For me, it's been mainly all about Non-League Day (NLD) preparations. There have been more meetings with our charity partners Prostate Cancer UK and also our friends at Athletic Bilbao who are building up to their own event across the Basque Country again. I've also been building the national match map for NLD and working on this blog while I can ..read more

Welcome one and all to the latest edition of TLFG. How has your week been? Aside from work, preparations for this year's Non-League Day on 23 March are well underway. Over the last few days, there have been meetings with team members and our charity partners Prostate Cancer UK. Our friends at Athletic (Bilbao) were also in touch as well and hopefully I'll have a meeting with them sometime in the next few days too. As for live football, I went to Rectory Park on Sunday to watch Actonians play their first home game since 5 November. Molly O'Reilly and captain Roschelle Shakes both scored f ..read more
