I have a shelf at home that is full of my old sketchbooks and occasionally I flick through them to recall and relive my past. I say this as it occurred to me that my sketchbooks are the nearest thing I have to a diary. I can often forget my past, however when I browse my old drawings and paintings the memories revive themselves and much of the detail comes back to me.  My sketchbooks are also part of my work because I use them to develop my ideas, they are my work and my life too. I have an exhibition of my paintings at The Art Bank Cafe in Shepton Mallet, Somerset,  Opening night is on Thursday the 5th of October.
