A reader (Miranda) writes: ‘I’m bemused why you you’ve apologised for your horoscope being late, when they are nearly always late!’ Mea culpa! So, I won’t bother with excuses. Still, sorry. Another reader (Gilly) asks: ‘Where is the November horoscope?’ Here you go… Cosmic Events The Sun moves from Scorpio to Sagittarius on November 22nd. The New Moon in Scorpio arrives on November 13th. The Full Moon in Sagittarius arrives November 27th. Mercury moves into Sagittarius on November 10th. Venus moves into Libra on November 8th. Mars is in Scorpio until November 24th, then into Sagittarius. Jupi ..read more

Like Lewis Carroll’s rabbit, your astrologer is late, late for an important date – in this instance, October 1st. Apologies but work pressure makes this unavoidable. So let’s press on. Your Stars August 2023

August is first and foremost the month of Leo, with the Sun- the Lion’s ruler – at its most powerful – but this year Leo’s sway is boosted by the presence of Venus as the green planet completes its retrograde from evening to morning star. August is a Virgo month too, of course – with the contrast between the two signs one of the zodiac’s biggest wrenches: Leo, brash and demonstrative, Virgo unassuming and meticulous. Many individuals have planets in both signs of course, and it would help all of us if we can channel the better qualities of Lion and Harvest Goddess in August and September – Vir ..read more

Your Stars May 2023

We remain in eclipse season, with the total solar eclipse of April 20 (at the new Moon) followed by the partial lunar eclipse on May 5 (at the full Moon). As your astrologer pointed out last month, “Astrology is divided about what eclipses mean – revelation or cover-up – but the consensus is that they represent instability, and that sometimes the best thing is to do nothing until they are out the way.” Elon Musk was clearly not listening to astrologers, who would have advised that April 20 was a poor time to be launching ‘the most powerful rocket ever built’, the prototype of a reusable craft ..read more

Your Stars April 2023

So onwards we hurtle – as in March, April starts with all seven of the solar system’s planets in forward motion from our perspective on Earth. The world seems to be in a great hurry and events arrive thick and fast. But wait…Mercury is about to enter one of its periodic three week retrogrades, and while major planets remain in impatient mood, Mercury’s go-slow should help us catch our breath, even if it is only because of pettifogging details. In our personal lives, best to clear the decks pronto and to avoid any grand pronouncements after the 21st. Taurus is the sign of economics, and while w ..read more

Your Stars March 2023

Astrologically, March is an eventful month. Two major planets change signs – Saturn moves into Pisces on the 7th, Pluto into Aquarius on the 23rd – plus the Spring Equinox, the start of the astrological calendar, begins with a New Moon there on March 21st. Add in the fact that all eight planets are still streaming forwards (the ‘luminaries’ of Sun and Moon never go retrograde, natch) and you have a celestial recipe for major changes in the zeitgeist. Many eyes will be turned to Pluto’s arrival in the skies of Aquarius. Pluto is here for three months this year, but its arrival may offer clues ..read more

Your Stars February 2023

The solar system’s planets never falter in their course around the Sun, but they often seem to go into reverse, a result of their relative speed from our wonky viewpoint on the blue planet, Earth. Currently, however, all eight major planets are in forward motion to earth eyes, which to the astrological mind explains why, after a sluggish start to the year, there seems to be acceleration of events. Where did January vanish? February maintains the momentum, with March hosting even more significant celestial events, with two slow-moving  planets, Saturn and Pluto changing sign. Meanwhile Feb ..read more

The Year Ahead 2023

There is no such thing as a good time to catch covid, but it was especially galling to contract the virus straight after Christmas, when confronted with writing an astrological forecast for the year ahead. Fortunately, a major part of the astrology for January has been a retrograde of Mercury – in operation until the 18th – and a retrograde of Mars, in operation until the 12th, both of which spell delay and catch-up rather than instigating a new phase in one’s affairs. Hopefully, this glance at the twelve months ahead hasn’t been set back too badly. 2023 – A Year of Transition How do you like ..read more

Your Stars December 2022

After the drama of November’s eclipses, December presents us with a less alarming planetary picture, at least once we are past the full Moon of the 8th. The annual full Moon in Gemini is no great thing in itself, but this one comes exactly alongside a backsliding Mars, which may give it added bite, a time of contention and a war of words perhaps. After that we slip into a long season of Capricorn, led by Mercury and Venus, the latter now an evening star, floating above the Christmas trees across the festive season. The winter solstice on the 21st heralds a new Moon in Capricorn on the 23rd, wh ..read more

Eclipses have always been a source of alarm. Seeing the Sun or Moon swallowed up and the world plunged into darkness was an obvious cause of wonder and anxiety before humanity understood the celestial mechanics involved, and even now we do, eclipses remain important staging posts in the astrological calendar. Shakespeare, who liked to play both sides of the astrological argument – whether the planets are meaningful or not – has a nobleman fretting over eclipses early in King Lear: “These late eclipses in the sun and moon portend no good to us… in cities, mutinies; in countries, discord; in pal ..read more
