The Mary Sue
by Evan Tiwari

Hulu’s We Were the Lucky Ones deals with a Jewish family’s struggle to survive during the Second World War, and it can be confidently said that the series has done a commendable job of bringing this gut-wrenching story to light. The miniseries’ final episode streamed on May 2, ending the journey of the Kurc family as they reunite once more for Passover after the war has ended. WWTLO won’t return for another season, as the show was conceptualized as a miniseries. Based on Georgia Hunter’s book of the same name, the miniseries covered the events of the book in its entirety. The Mary Sue
by Rachel Leishman

The Rookie started as a show about John Nolan (Nathan Fillion) trying to find his place in the LAPD. Now that the show is in its sixth season, The Rookie focuses more on its ensemble cast. Episode 7, which premiered on April 30th, had everyone going through it. Wade (Richard T. Jones) was riding around with Lucy (Melissa O’Neil) to check on her after her breakup with Tim (Eric Winter). As if that wasn’t enough, Lucy has to find a new roommate now that Tamara (Dylan Conrique) is moving out. The post How Is Everyone Doing on ‘The Rookie’? Have No Fear, Star and Stripe Is Here To Save Everyone in ‘My Hero Academia’ Season 7
The Mary Sue
by Vanessa Esguerra

Let’s quickly clear up any confusion about the USA’s No. 1 Pro Hero from My Hero Academia. She’s not the next Captain America, and her hero outfit isn’t inspired by Steve Rogers’ suit either. The one who propelled Star and Stripe into becoming a hero is none other than her former mentor, All Might. She holds All Might in such high regard that even her hair is styled like his. Her admiration for All Might runs deep, not only because he was once her teacher. When Cathleen Bate was a young girl, her family was attacked by a robber with a quirk. The family was stuck in their car and was almos ..read more

The Cast of ‘The Fall Guy’ Shares Their Go-To Cry Songs
The Mary Sue
by Rachel Leishman

David Leitch’s The Fall Guy is an action-packed rom-com about stuntman Colt Seavers (Ryan Gosling) who is desperate to win back his director/former flame Jody (Emily Blunt). For all its explosive fight sequences, the movie also has a lot of heartbreakingly relatable moments, soundtracked by (who else?) Taylor Swift. One of the best parts of The Fall Guy comes via a montage of romantic moments between Jody and Colt set to Taylor Swift’s “All Too Well.” If you haven’t cried to a Swift song, have you even lived? Naturally, I had to ask actors Winston Duke, Hannah Waddingham, and Stephanie Hsu wha ..read more

Star and Stripes’ Quirk Defies the Laws of Physics in ‘My Hero Academia’
The Mary Sue

What can we take away from the first episode of season seven of  My Hero Academia? Mainly that the USA’s No. 1 Pro Hero is strong, and her quirk should be illegal. If you hadn’t read the manga, you’d have a good reason to be terrified of Shigaraki. Cathleen Bate, more popularly known as Star and Stripe, was All Might’s former mentee. With her in the picture, will Shigaraki stand a chance at beating her? The post Star and Stripes’ Quirk Defies the Laws of Physics in ‘My Hero Academia’ appeared first on The Mary Sue ..read more

‘Unfrosted’ Is as Sugary and Fleeting as Its Breakfast Inspiration
The Mary Sue
by Chelsea Steiner

Are we expecting too much from a comedy today? It’s a question that kept popping up as I watched Jerry Seinfeld’s Unfrosted, a fizzy, pop confection of a film. After a relatively quiet career since the ending of his iconic eponymous NBC series (Bee Movie aside), Seinfeld makes his directorial debut with the silliest of stories: the invention of the Pop-Tart. Seinfeld imagines a fantasy version of 1963 where the breakfast wars are front page news, where industry titans Kellogg (Jim Gaffigan) and Post (Amy Schumer) are in a corporate death battle tinged with sex appeal. Where Does ‘My Hero Academia’ Take Place? Answered
The Mary Sue
by Jack Doyle

Short answer: Earth! Slightly more detailed answer: Japan! If you want an even more detailed answer to where My Hero Academia takes place … read on. Welcome to Musutafu! My Hero Academia takes place in the fictional city of Musutafu, Japan! It’s your average Japanese metropolis, except for the fact that it gets attacked by giant monsters and supervillains on the daily. It’s not nearly as bad of a quality of life as any of the cities where One Punch Man takes place (they’re destroyed so often they don’t even have names), but it’s definitely got a little more added stress than regular city life ..read more

Lady Whistledown’s Voice-Over on ‘Bridgerton’ Wouldn’t Hit The Same Without This Iconic Actress’s Performance
The Mary Sue
by Benedetta Geddo
23h ago
The third season of Bridgerton is upon us and I know I’m not the only one frantically crossing off the days in my calendar that separate us from our return to the ton of Regency London and all the gossip that follows. After all, what’s a good social season without some scalding hot tea? And of course, no one knows that better than Lady Whistledown, the one true queen of the London gossip. Her scandal sheet—which pretty much put the whole series in motion—is beloved by everyone in the ton, particularly because it calls out people by name rather than using clever nicknames or turns of phrase. Th ..read more
