My wellness journey has been a combination of movement and the right gear. As someone who has dealt with the symptoms of an autoimmune disorder for nearly two years, I know how important it is to take care of your body as well as your mind to look and feel your best. For me, one of the things that has been key to my wellness journey is walking. Whether it’s a quick stroll around the block or a longer hike in nature, walking helps me clear my mind, get some fresh air, and stay active.  I didn’t know I loved walking as much until 2020 hit. Not only did it get me out of the house, but it w ..read more

How to Make a Tinned Fish Board

Y’all, Tinned fish is having a moment. It wasn’t until I was working with a specialty wine bar and shop last summer that I really learned how much. And then, of course, the TikTok virality of it. When you think of tinned fish, do you automatically go to sardines or tuna? Well, that’s what we’ve been used to for years, but . There’s a lot of high quality seafood in tins. Not to mention the nutritional value in various options, high in protein and omega-3’s. I don’t think there’s a “wrong” way to make a tinned fish board, but here are some things that I kept in mind when I made my latest one! S ..read more

My Wonderful Stay at Dreams Vista Cancun

Was it a dream, or was it real? Seriously, that was a question I asked myself for weeks after returning home from Dreams Vista Cancun.  Mexico is one of my favorite destinations (huge Cabo fan as you can tell here and here) for an easy fun getaway and escape. I’ve traveled through Cancun before (it’s a less than three hour flight from Dallas), but stayed in Playa del Carmen and came for a party vibe, so I was excited to return with a different energy. After doing some research on luxurious properties around “adult spring break” time, it was clear that Dreams was going to be the winner. D ..read more

Please Note: This is my story of living with ITP. I am not a medical professional and I’m not providing medical advice, just my personal experience since my diagnosis. To my ITP warriors, please consult your hematologist to determine the best approach for your situation. I’m rooting for you. [This post is sponsored by Walmart. All opinions + suggestions are our own] In an attempt to support my wellness goals, I’ve been making more meals at home, from meal prepping my lunches to trying new dinner recipes on different nights during the week. Walmart has become my one stop shop for everything I need to keep the kitchen going. My Keurig has kept me fueled in between Zoom meetings and my air fryer has been used for much more than tater tots (my fav during lockdown).  Shop some of my favorite cookware and appliances from Walmart Turn on your JavaScript to view content Beyond the t ..read more

How to Enjoy Summer Break as an Adult

Summer break. It’s definitely a period of time that I took for granted as a youth, and of course, I lived it up and have no regrets. It’s just that unless you are able to take three months off starting in July, it can seem like such a thing isn’t possible for you. But summer break as an adult is a thing! It just takes a little bit of reframing. Summer break as an adult can be what you make it and what you need. Some of it may have to be scheduled, but that doesn’t make it any less special. In fact, it makes the time deliberate and intentional, and most of all, a time for fun. Create a Weekly ..read more

What to Include Inside Your Media Kit

Whenever one of my clients asks me about pitching brands and partners, I always ask “Do you have your media kit updated?” and I often get the look on Zoom. Yo, I’m not here to judge, but the media kit is one thing that is often neglected and leaves you scrambling when someone asks for it. Plus, it can help unlock a larger scope of work (and sometimes more money, too) if done correctly! So, what’s a media kit? A media kit, also known as a press kit, is a package of information related to your business. It’s used as a promo piece for reporters and producers (hence the name media), writers, bra ..read more
