On this weekend post, a little of life lately… My cat Marlo and also my son’s college graduation ! A lot has happened since last week, and so my plans for graduation outfit ideas, and also a few other things just didn’t get done and I hope to have them for you next weekend. Marlo This week has been tough. We said goodbye to our beautiful Marlo kitty. We loved her nearly 19 years. She was my shadow and constant buddy and always sat next to my desk in my sunny office. When we adopted her she had stretched her paws and arms out of the cage to touch us, as if to say don’t leave without me. Her ..read more

Northern California Style

On this month’s Signature Style, we ponder the closet classic, the shirtdress. It sounds boring, but it can lend so much versatility, style, and longevity to your wardrobe and is the perfect low maintenance piece for travel too. Signature Style is a bit later than normal, but it’s due to a fun twist we are doing. For April, Cindy and I decided to order the same items and style them in our own ways, so you can see the possibilities. This was Cindy’s genius idea and we ordered a classic white shirt dress- in a high end version and also in a lower price point, so you have options! Under each dre ..read more

On this post, outdoor accessories and furniture, Easter table, plus Nathan Turner’s Ojai old school California ranch house, and a hotel in Carmel that has had a glow-up! Happy Easter weekend! We are doing a brunch as we always do and will have my oldest Jackson here and my dad. Griffin will stay at school in Utah this year, but he’s graduating in early May. I don’t know if it’s the rain and sun we’ve had, but my yard is loaded with blooms and our old wisteria bloomed this week too. Last year’s bloom was not as good, as she had a bad haircut. I made sure that didn’t happen this year, and she d ..read more

Today I’m joining some stylish friends to share our favorite sneakers and how we wear them. . What is your favorite sneaker? Do you have a few? I have more now since we can opt to wear sneakers with a skirt or dress, and even with dressier pants and a suit look. I love the option to mix it up, and I love that women now have the choice instead of heels in many instances. I have a retro looking sneaker in nylon, a clean white pair to wear with dresses and such, an athletic pair, and one with a bit of a platform. I have others in the garage for hikes, and for playing tennis. I haven’t ventured ..read more

On this post, my dress and sandals I plan to wear for Easter, a spring change and refresh around the kitchen, a new skin cream I love, and Frances Valentine founder Elyce Arons’ bright and beautiful New York Townhouse. How have you all been? I work on this post on Fridays, and just at lunch time I was so sad to hear about the Princess of Wales and her cancer diagnosis. I feel so badly for her, and also for the way it all came out. What a PR mess from the palace. Who knows who is at fault, but I sure feel like Katherine got the blame for the bad photo and all. I was thinking how we all look at ..read more

It’s going to be in the 70’s this weekend and I am thinking of bring out some of my blouses and store my sweaters in the draw ..read more

White Shirt Styling Ideas
Northern California Style

This month for Signature Style, Cindy and I decided to do a deep drive on the white shirt. Who doesn’t love them? Today I’ll share some of the latest iterations of the white shirt, as well as solid classics that are out there. Then we’ll look at unexpected ways to style your white shirts! When I think of white shirts, I think of Katherine Hepburn and how she wore a button up forever.. The white button-up ( a button-down is actually one that has buttons on the collar), is universally flattering. The structure of a white tailored shirt gives a sharper line than a soft t-shirt or sweater and ski ..read more
