Excitement today over bipartisanship killing a tax break for out-of-state corporations quickly turned to confusion as the flavor of the week bill, marijuana legalization implementation, was somehow involved. GOP Rep. Barry Usher said he was opposing this because he was worried the incentives would entice big marijuana companies to move to Montana. https://t.co/6HsPNY5gEk — Eric Dietrich (@eidietrich) March 25, 2021 According to Eric Dietrich of the Montana Free Press and Arren Kimbel-Sannit of the Daily Montanan Republican Barry Usher rose against SB 184 saying: “I’m not sure we want to brin ..read more

Gianforte’s Marijuana Boondoggle Could Destroy 100s of Businesses, 1000s of Jobs

Gianforte’s Marijuana bill could leave Montana’s largest city without access to marijuana while gutting Montana businesses all across the state as cities and counties must opt-in to legalization… Governor Gianforte has done everything in his power to stymy the implementation of adult-use marijuana. A vast majority of Montanans supported it in the 2020 election, as Missoula County Clerk and Treasurer Tyler Gernant pointed out in his op-ed, marijuana legalization actually received more votes than Greg Gianforte did in the 2020 election.  This means Montanans want legal marijuana, and they ..read more

Everything about this stinks: Gianforte traps, kills Yellowstone wolf
The Montana Post – Progressive Politics from the Big Sky

There are many, many details missing from this story but here’s the initial report from the Associated Press and Boise State Public Radio: Montana Gov. Greg Gianforte was given a warning by state wildlife officials after killing a radio-collared wolf near Yellowstone National Park in February without first taking a mandated trapping education course. Gianforte trapped and killed the wolf about 10 miles north of the park on a ranch owned by a Sinclair Broadcasting Group executive. So, Gianforte gets “a warning” for setting traps on a trophy ranch just north of the park that’s owned by a right ..read more

Montana Republicans Subsidize Gun Ownership in the Midst of Two American Mass Gun Killings

I don’t write about gun violence as often as I should. Maybe it’s that posts about them tend to generate the highest number of death threats; maybe it’s the simple fact that I have never had the urge to fire a gun and can’t imagine that I ever will. But let me be clear: the extremism of the gundamentalist community and their fetishization of weapons of war are killing Americans when they shop, when they pray, when they learn, and when they serve. Yesterday, less than a week after a man in Georgia walked into a gun store and purchased a gun with no waiting period required before traveling to th ..read more

Months after armed militias stormed the US Capitol in a misguided effort to overturn the 2020 Presidential election, Canyon Ferry Road Baptist Church is encouraging the formation of militias to take down the evil cabal that has led us to this: This republic of sovereign States, founded in the Name of Jesus Christ and blessed for centuries, is now under Communist occupation by D.C., Beijing, and many state palaces. The massive fraud in the 2020 election, combined with the criminal COVID-19 hoax were the work of criminals in the Deep State, DNC, Communist county machines and governors, Black Li ..read more

This is the best congressional Republicans have to offer

Seriously, this email blast is making the rounds: That’s right…actress and former Princess Meghan Markle has been toying with the idea of running for President in 2024. AND there’s a chance she’ll be running against President Trump! We think President Trump would win in a LANDSLIDE. What do you think? It comes from the National Republican Congressional Committee and is signed by “GOP leadership.” While there is little truth to Markle’s bid for the presidency except in supermarket tabloids and bogus internet sites, that’s not keeping the Republican Party from trying to raise a few bucks. Ther ..read more
