In the bustling heart of Lucky Plaza, Singapore, lies a hidden gem for food enthusiasts – Bebek Goreng Pak Ndut. Known for its authentic Indonesian cuisine, this restaurant promises a culinary journey that goes beyond the ordinary. During my recent visit, I had the pleasure of indulging in their signature dish, the Original Crispy Fried Duck Rice, and the experience was nothing short of extraordinary.

Let’s talk about the Indonesian/Malaysian dessert called Martabak Manis, which closely resembles a Singaporean delicacy that is Min Jiang Kueh. The Indonesian variant is usually bigger, fluffier, and filled with toppings—a delicious treat that will delight your sweet tooth.
I searched for famous places that offered authentic Indonesian Martabak Manis and stumbled across this joint, Smile Martabak. Their website says, “Singapore #1 Authentic Indonesian Martabak.” Quite a bold statement, if you ask me. I hope it is true. I also read a few reviews, and I really like how one food critic pre ..read more

From the outside, Fortune Centre at Middle Road/Bugis (beside the famous Kwan Im Thong Hood Cho Temple) may seem like a run-down office building. But do you know that it is also a hidden gem housing eateries selling cheap and delicious vegetarian food? On the 1st and 15th of each lunar month, you’ll often see temple goers having their meal there after praying at the temple.
One such place is Bodhi Deli. Located on the third floor of Fortune Centre, Bodhi Deli’s dishes start from $3.50 – incredibly cheap considering its location, as well as relative to other stalls in hawker centres around B ..read more

Besides for Victor’s Fried Chicken and Boon Kee Pork Porridge, the coffeeshop at Veerasamy Road also houses Mui Siong Minced Meat Noodles, a stall selling bak chor mee. Each dish is prepared using the freshest ingredients, and they are bound to satisfy your taste buds. Even though there weren’t any queues when we visited (on a weekday), we wouldn’t be surprised to find long queues on a weekend.
Their minced meat noodles were light and springy, with each strand of noodle coated with a thin layer of oil. Their sauced were also well-prepared, although you’ll need to mix the noodles and the sa ..read more

Donya serves Japanese Donburi, a Japanese rice bowl at affordable prices in the heartland of Toa Payoh and Bugis.
We visited the Bugis outlet, which is located right behind Bugis+, within the row of coffee shops directly opposite the taxi stand. You can find other holiao in those coffee shops too.
Donya Japanese Cuisine 丼屋
Tried their Chef’s Recommendations. Every Donburi comes with bowl of miso soup, which was just regular miso soup. Nothing special.
Chicken Teriyaki Don
$6.80 for this bowl of Chicken Teriyaki Don. Good amount of chicken slices, covered with Teriyaki sauce.

A new stall recently opened at Golden Mile Food Centre – the 3Keng Kolo Mee (山璟哥罗面). It is located on the second floor, near the staircase and the row of ATM machines. Just walk up the staircase, and you can easily see the cute 山璟哥 logo.
According to their Facebook page, their noodles are made using the legendary Nantou Yi Mien Noodle recipe (南投百年意面) with about 130 years of history. This is what gives the noodles its springy look and feel, as well as its smooth and QQ texture. The formula also makes sure the noodles do not clump together, whether you are dining in, or having it to go.
