Check it out: https://benjamindavis.substack.com/p/flying-through-a-fuckstorm-of-ass Two weeks ago, I had a feeling: I am going to die.  I’d been bought, sold, fucked, re-packaged, torn open, re-fucked, sleep-starved, and stuffed into a little tube 33,000 feet in the air before, as a single tear peeled down my tortured face, I thought: I am going to die.  I thought: Surely, no universe would w ..read more

The Butt Ghost

Mr. Pluck walked into my office today and calmly mentioned, “There are claw marks on the inside of the toilet seat.” “What the fuck?” “The toilet seat, the flap-thing that comes down to cover it. There were claw marks in it.” “Like—cat claw marks or something?” “No, like—fuck someone has buried me alive in a toilet kind of claw marks.” My stomach felt queasy which made me feel like I needed the toilet. I suppressed it. “Any idea why?” “No, probably some weird butt-eating ghost or something,” he shuddered, “I don’t want to think about it.” “Then why the hell did you tell me?” “So you could thin ..read more

The Ceremonial Backstabbing Knife

I went looking for the ceremonial backstabbing knife at work today. Our boss came back from vacation. She is vicious with that knife, so it’s always best to keep an eye on it when she’s around. I found Mr. Pluck in the teacher’s lounge. “Have you seen the ceremonial backstabbing knife?” I asked. “I don’t think so,” he said. He spun around for me to make sure. “Why?” “Ms. Truncate is back. So—you know.” “Shit.” He sighed. “Any idea who might have it?” He took a sip of coffee and thought for a minute. “Last I saw,” he trailed off a bit before finishing, “ah! Right. I stuck it in Mr. Yells.” “Oh ..read more

Fuck Trees

Ms. Truncate arrived at the new semester staff meeting, clicked on the projector, and announced: “Welcome everyone. First item on the agenda today,” she clicked, “Fuck trees.” A slide appeared on the screen. The symbol of our order: the stump of a tree with a stack of paper on it. Black, red background. We all rose. “Before we go around and share, The Council has sent some policy updates.” Ms. Truncate unfurled a scroll and read allowed, “The quota for poster board projects has increased to three per semester and each teacher is now required to have a minimum of five subject-related motivation ..read more

Tiger Hunters

I had a dream. I lived in a valley with a few other refugees sometime around the end of the world. We spent every day avoiding a tiger. I had a daughter. She might’ve been eleven or twelve, open-eyed, with short black hair. I don’t know how people ate, slept, or found the time to make daughters because it was pretty time-consuming avoiding this tiger, but there she was. She didn’t have a name—but she did have a catchphrase. She’d always say, “I’d like to buy a train ticket to anywhere else, please!” She got a real kick out of it. If my premonition could be believed, she’d never seen a train, w ..read more

Nazis Eating Chicken

They were talking about Nazis on the news this morning. I know I should have been concerned. They said the German military has an infestation of Nazis—an infestation, like roaches. Nazis plus military should always be concerning. Then, my brain took the wrong set of stairs and I started thinking about how easily Nazis could sound silly—just one letter away: Nozis, Nezis, or Nizis—when I got to Nuzis it got me thinking about Newsies—a movie about white American teenagers who, if born in Germany, would probably have been Nazis. I watched this movie a lot as a kid. Also, as a kid, my parents had ..read more

Minefields and Misfires

My coworkers have started placing landmines in the hall. They’ve gotten clever with it. At first, they’d cover them with a sheet of paper, or a casually-dropped scarf. If you weren’t looking down, they’d get you. Then someone found the manufacturer who sold our building their floor tiles. Now, I never know where to step. It happened again today. I had my headphones on, walking down the hall, minding my business, and WHAM— It blew my left leg right off. My headphones went flying and I crashed into the wall. When I looked up, my coworker was standing above me. She smiled. “Oh, Mr. Pigeon,” she s ..read more
