Recent news reports have emerged that the Chinese government will destroy Atsok Gompa—another sacred Tibetan monastery—and displace over 15,555 people in the surrounding Drakkar, Kawasumdo, and Mangra counties to build another Chinese mega-dam along the Machu or “Yellow River.” China is advertising this dam in international media as a feat of engineering because it will be the world’s largest 3D-printed structure at over 590 feet tall and controlled by AI.

This week, people across the world took to the streets to commemorate the 65th Tibetan National Uprising Day! On this day we honor the sacrifices of thousands of Tibetans who took to the streets of Lhasa on 10 March 1959 and called for Tibet’s independence and the removal of the occupying Chinese military forces. Over 1,000 Tibetans have been arrested by Chinese police in occupied Tibet for protesting the Chinese government’s construction of a dam that would displace 2,000+ Tibetans from their homes and further ravage Tibet’s environment.
