This month was a “do everything and claim nothing” month. The birthday celebrations started early and no sewing was done. It was all enjoyable. Thanksgiving eats was in the mix and we celebrated several milestones in our Family. My Aunt celebrated 99 years around the sun and we all gathered at my Cousin’s house for a big bash on the 14th. Black Friday sales came and went and I purchased nothing.  On the weekend after the left overs, christmas decor came into play and I spent all day Saturday decorating my Mom’s yard. On the following Monday my christmas tree got my attention all day and ..read more

I had been searching for some light weight orange fabric to make an easy breezy summer dress all season long. and found it on the clearance rack as a beach coverup. Once the Green dress was successfully made from a recycled sheet found at Goodwill. I started looking at fabrics in different forms. I do have a tendency to Repurpose or even Recycle items in my kloset.  And, this post reflects just that.  On one of my trips to Target, I found three oversized beach coverups from the clearance rack and I have “Re-Worked” & Upcycled them into garments that I want to wear. What is Upcyc ..read more

Do you wear Shorts?

A question asked on a Style Makeover site by a woman  –  –  –  Are shorts appropriate over 60? The consultant Jane answered –  –  – “the short answer (pun intended) is Yes!”  She also said. . . . “If you like your lower legs and knees then shorts can be comfortable, practical casual wear for hot summer days and stylish too! . .”And, if you have full thighs, shorts will prevent chaffing.” Well, I do agree with her on the chaffing.  I have not worn shorts of any length since 2018, which was the last time I played golf in a skort. Why you ask?  My gol ..read more

There is a lot of talk about Sustainable Fashion and many of You are getting your closets ready to follow this trend. Because clothes have become so cheap, some of us no longer care as much about quality. We just buy new garments when the ones we have lose their shape or appeal. And you and I have had the experience of buying expensive clothing or pair of shoes and facing the disappointment when two months later, they already look old or have holes in them. At the start of this year I decided to start creating some me-made outfits all because I just did not find any good fitting garments I lo ..read more

If you follow me on Instagram or this Blog, you would know that I started sewing again after many. many years.  This all started because I really wanted some colorful pants, that I could not find in the stores and decided to make a few pairs.  So far, I have attempted three pairs of pants and none made the cut.  I have never had any problems getting ready to wear pants to fit my body, and could not believe that the pants I made, were ill fitting and ended up in the trash. Your Girl was losing confidence quick!  So, I decided to concentrate on making tops & dresses. The ..read more

Happy New Year to Each and Everyone.  We brought in 2021 at my Mom’s house watching the countdown on TV with a glass of Rum Punch. On New Year’s Eve we got back to 80 degree weather in my neck of the woods and it was well received. I was so pleased with the warmth, that I had to take out my hot pink shoes. The top I’m wearing here was hanging in my vacation closet for a few years and came forward in the merge. Now, that small closet houses my jackets and pants and everything else is crammed into the other two.  Yes. . . I am lucky to have three closets but I do miss my walk-in close ..read more

There are not many any plans for the Holidays this year due to the Pandemic but I will get dressed up as if I was invited to a party. So, this is the outfit I plan to wear on Christmas Eve, if the weather cooperates. Last christmas it was in the high 80’s and my gifted long sleeve top was only comfortable at night.  But, it was all FUNN and we enjoyed our family night out at the Casino. This year. . no Casino, no Parties, no visits to relatives, no watching the kiddies open their presents. But, we are Thankful to be alive and kicking. I plan to be in full attire at my Mom’s house with my ..read more

DIY Jeans

In my Jeans closet purge, three pairs were identified as “make them work” in my stash. After the Floral hand painted Jeans was a success [worn here], I chose another pair of white jeans to work on.  They were slightly distressed and the Style&Co brand purchased years ago. The initial plan was to add some fringe to the hem, but that got scrapped for paint. I had so much fun with the last project. . . so why not?  The main colors chosen for the project were orange and pink, because there were so many tops to match in my closet.  But, that soon changed and before I knew it, so ..read more

If you search on the Internet for what a woman over 50 should wear? The results could be daunting. Only because, we have been wearing and loving the same items of clothing, that they say we should not wear.  Hello. . . we are still Vibrant! Many of us are wearing colorful low cut pieces that rival the younger gals, and we have an attitude to boot. I just wear Whatever I want, Whenever and Refuse to be Invisible. Today is the oldest I have ever been, and the youngest I will ever be again. Thanks to the Almighty.  Last year the birthday celebrations went on for the entire month and I ..read more
