Can’t stand to see myself after showering

Before this year, my skin completely cleared up of both flare ups AND scars. I was so so happy because it took years to get rid of scars and I felt I could finally pass as someone with NO skin problems. But it all came back and it came back BAD and has been only been getting worse for the last year. When I get out of the shower, all my spots get really red (I’m generally pale so the redness is highly visible) and everyday after I shower, I genuinely get so sad and don’t feel like I want to be here. I’m trying to accept eczema is a chronic condition but I’m doing everything I can and getting i ..read more

Nummular eczema or seborrheic dermatitis?

I've had circular brown patches around my back and waistline for a long time, but they seem to be getting itchier lately. Two derms have said it was fungal (seb derm), but ketoconazole, cilprox, and lotrimin have not helped at all. TBF I'm only on week 2 of ketoconazole, but there zero difference. Does all nummular eczema weep? My patches are itchy but don't weep. I have a hunch that my patches are actually eczema, what is the main difference between these two conditions? I've just purchased some 1% hydrocortisone cream to see if it makes a difference on a small patch. Thanks, submitted by ..read more

Is there such a thing as "too much" moisturizer?

I'm having a flare-up right now that I would say is the first truly terrible one I've ever had, so obviously I'm a noob when it comes to treatment. My skin has always been dry and itchy, but I think I've just entered "Eczema Hell" for the first time. The affected area is the backside of both of my knees. I've been dealing with this flare-up for about three weeks and, during the most painful periods, I've have had trouble even getting up and walking around my apartment because the skin is so sore and any amount of stretching/movement hurts. Online sources, including this subreddit, have been s ..read more

Cotton hats

I am a male who wears hats to cover my forehead because it's like the only area of my face that is still bad. But most men's hats that cover the forehead are made with synthetic fibers around the brim and only make my forehead worse. It's a vicious cycle. Cotton beanies don't stretch well enough and don't look professional at work. Does anyone know about a company that sells 100 percent cotton trucker or baseball hats? I have searched very hard and even the hats that say 100 percent cotton end up having polyester around the forehead area or they are really small and don't cover the forehead ..read more

Any shampoo and conditioner recommendations FOR COLORED/DYED HAIR? I get bad eyelid dermititis often. My newest irritation I believe is from my shampoo and conditioner, which is full of fragrance and irritants.

Although we still have frequent flare ups over the summer, my 8 year olds eczema has improved greatly over the years but her skin is damaged. I’m curious if collagen can help cure it. What results have you seen? And what type of collagen do you use? submitted by /u/ShesHere4 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

i’ve been using hydrocortisone on my face for about a year now; i always get eczema under my chin and on my eyelids. recently i saw this girl on youtube who explained that steroid cream causes withdrawal symptoms when you stop taking it. she showed pictures of herself whilst withdrawing; her eczema had gotten much worse during the process than it was on steroids, but now her skin is completely flawless. i’ve been off it now for a few months and i’ve used multiple products such as vaseline, a-derma and bio-derma to treat my eczema but nothing is working. in fact it’s getting worse, which corre ..read more

Eyelid eczema just sloughed off

I’ve been suffering from eyelid eczema on my left eye for I want to say 3-4 months now. I was using aveeno eczema balm and Vaseline for the most part but it didn’t seem to help other than provide temporary moisture. The last day or two I noticed my eyelid was feeling drier and tighter than usual, and upon touch the skin was smooth and papery. I also started to use a new product on it yesterday too, as well as put away a scented candle that I’ve had out since the beginning of the year. Now, I don’t want to get my hopes up too high as I know eczema is a tricky thing and it can come and go, be c ..read more
