I have contact dermatitis on my hands, soap is aggravating it to the point where I am in pain. My skin also reacts badly to fragrance, and an unscented handwash is surprisingly hard to find. Anyway, I am considering using emollient as a soap substitute. However, I can't find any conclusive information about their effectiveness in comparison to soap, specifically removing bacteria. Does anyone on here know? I can see how it would help to remove oil and dirt but bacteria and viruses is more of a grey area. Since I became pregnant my skin has been really dry and itchy, mostly in my face. I took it lightly because I’m used to it but it’s been getting worse and worse. If I don’t moisturize my skin gets super dry and flaky, but every moisturizer I’ve tried (Avene Xeracalm, Aveeno, Stratia Liquid Gold) makes me flare up - fully red face and a terrible burning sensation. Hey guys, I really want to raise awareness to you that your “eczema” MAY NOT BE ECZEMA! Disclaimer, I may have just been an idiot but I sincerely thought I had eczema for MONTHS. I FINALLY discovered that my raised itchy welts in my arm pits may actually be due to BLACK CARPET BEETLES in my room! I live in a college dorm (yuck, I know) and at about the time my “eczema” got bad, I had an issue with these black bugs.
