How to handle eBay scammers alleging missing items?

Although I seldom sell on eBay, I recently sold a high-value camera with accessories totaling £900. Shortly after the parcel was delivered, the buyer claimed that the main items were missing, insisting that only an LED light was inside. They've initiated a case titled "item not as described." Despite being certain that I included all items, how do I address such fraudulent claims on eBay? The camera package comprised substantial items, yet the buyer asserts only the LED light was received... Read more ..read more

Hi all So after 16 years I have decided to close down my current business in the service industry as I am moving away to another area of the UK. I am thinking of setting up a gardening / decking / patio cleaning service as a sole trader. My question is really for anyone in those service industries ; is it a good industry to be in ? What are the pros and cons ? I currently own a white van , 2 chainsaws , tree loppers , lawnmowers etc etc so the initial set up costs would be very low... Read more ..read more

I currently have an 03 number with VOIPfone and that works fine when I'm on my desktop or laptop but if I want to use it on my phone I need an app running which isn't ideal. I'd like to get an eSIM I can use. I'm only really interested in minutes and texts as I can survive with say 2GB of data. My priorities are low price and the shortest length contract possible. My personal SIM is with Smarty and I'm happy with their performance but unfortunately they do not offer eSIMs ..read more

Help! I have the opportunity to buy a small business at a very decent price. The current owner will be leaving the country. I know it is usually better to set-up your new LTD, but my question is: What steps do I need to safeguard against inheriting any existing debts, liabilities, or outstanding financial obligations associated with the company? The current owner told me that he will present any documents that I will ask for(eg corporation tax, VAT, etc ..read more

CGT calculation on overseas property
UK Business Forums

How would CGT be calculated on an overseas property sale for someone who is a recent resident (year 2022) in the UK but the property has been owned for over 2 decades (year 2000). Will the deemed value of the property in 2022 (when I gained residency) against value in 2024 be applicable to calculate the gains or will the original purchase price in a 2000 minus the sale price in 2024 be considered for computing the gains? Logically the property had appreciated quite a lot in those 20 years... Read more ..read more
