Come for the weird mashup DEVO, Jazz, Prog Rock, and JD Beck vibes. Stay for the improvised solo I nailed at the end of the piece - haha. When you create a new Set on Move, it randomly picks from the 1,500 onboard presets. Track 1 = Drums, Track 2 = Bass, Track 3 = poly synth, Track 4 = Lead synth. While you can certainly create with intention with it, this feature = serendipitous joy. Here's how this crazy track came about: I created a new set which set me up randomly with some acoustic drums. When you create a set in Move or Note, it picks from 1,500 sounds to randomize Track 1 as Drums, Track 2 as Bass, Track 3 as polyphonic synth, Track 4 as Lead Synth. If I force myself to start with these, I come up with ideas and fun weird shit I would have ..read more

This song was performed in a single take on an Ableton Move using four tracks. It's a blend of pre-made clips on the Move with live arrangement, plus I'm playing Move's velocity and poly-pressure pads. I'm also using a Novation Launchkey Mini MK4 to play synths on tracks 3 and 4. 00:00 Credits. 00:03 Intro (Cinque Terre). 00:15 Movement 1 Vibes (Colosseum). 00:23 Switch to track one to play some pads on the drum rack. 00:32 Break 1 (Time laps arial footage above Denver). 00:43 Launchkey Mini MK4 on MIDI Channel 1. Plays track selected, in this case Track 4 Wavetable preset with some macro para ..read more

Companion video for more blog post on https://modulatethis.com/move Ableton has an experimental feature in Ableton Live 12.1 that allows you to export presets to Ableton Move and Ableton Note. Currently, you can export Drum Racks and Drift presets if they adhere to a format that will work within the restrictions of the subset of features supported by Ableton Move/Note. This video is a companion to a blog post with all sorts of details on how to enable the experimental feature, format presets for export, along with some tips and gotchas: https://markmoshermusic.com/2024/10/21/how-to-export-pres ..read more
