The Skinny Pig | Where Gluttony is no longer a sin

Earlier this year, I asked a bunch of you (on Instagram) what you wanted to see from me from a content POV, and a good chunk of you said “more everyday meals.” It was so funny to me, because when I started this blog and my Instagram page, it was like, “let’s see more bacon,” but now, foodporn is so horrifically overdone, I think people want to see the more “normal” side of eating. And I get it. Another reason some of you asked to see what I eat regularly (outside of the occasional Taco Bell or bagel binge), is because I flash my semi-abs every now and then, and I have also shared my struggles ..read more

I find this to be one of the harder questions I get in life: Where do I eat brunch near Penn Station? I don’t know exactly why that area is the food sinkhole that it is, but it’s getting better. Check out my other list here for regular lunch/dinner and drinks spots. But for now, let’s talk brunch, because that is a tricky one. Below is my list of brunch spots near Penn Station, and if you have any other suggestions, PLEASE leave a comment below! Happy to check it out and hope to continue to add to this. And a friendly reminder that the phone number is a link to the Google search for the restau ..read more

The Viral Jennifer Aniston Salad!
The Skinny Pig | Where Gluttony is no longer a sin

I have always loved Jennifer Aniston and now I love her even more for gifting us with this salad. This recipe is nothing new to the internet (see: viral), but I started making this on the REG last year. I made a few changes to it and thought I’d share, since most of my friends and family absolutely love it! What is the Jennifer Aniston Salad? Bulgur Wheat Cucumbers Red Onion Chickpeas Feta Parsley Mint Pistachios Dressing: olive oil, lemon juice, salt & pepper Changes I made: In the original recipe, as you can see, she uses bulgur wheat, but I find that to be too heavy be ..read more

What’s New at Citi Field 2024

One of the perks of my job (that I still look forward to) is my invite to the press day at Citi Field, home of the New York Mets, where they unveil all the new happenings for the stadium. And the new snacks! I’ve been going to this event for almost a decade (yikes) and it’s always fun to see what New York’s favorite underdogs are up to. Not to mention I get to try all the new foods, or at least as many of them as I can. The options are borderline overwhelming, but I’m hardly complaining, as you can see below. Fun fact: Citi Field was voted the #1 Best Stadium Food in 2023 by USA Today 10Be ..read more

A Valentine’s Day Reminder

This day can mean whatever you want it to mean. For me, it’s just another day. If you search my blog, you’ll see I’ve never really been a fan. Some might even describe me as a cynic, way back when. Me?! Never. But for those of you who know me, you know I’m pretty big on all things (especially pain) being relative. So if this day is hard for you, I understand and I assure you, you’re not alone. I’ve gotten a few texts today from friends who expressed that they feel sad because they’re alone. I also haven’t heard a peep from the other friends who are in new relationships because they’re excited ..read more

How To Phase Out a Toxic Friend
The Skinny Pig | Where Gluttony is no longer a sin

On the latest episode of my podcast, You Both Suck, we received a submission from a woman in her late 40’s who was having some friend drama with another female friend. She referenced that it was a relatively new friend who basically uses her as her unpaid therapist – complains constantly and never asks how she’s doing, etc. We’ve all had that “friend.” She thought it might be “pathetic” to have friendship problems at her age, but I think that age has nothing to do with it (and it’s certainly not pathetic). From my POV, friendship issues can occur in your damn 80’s. As long as you’re lucid enou ..read more

7 Ways to Feel Better in 2024

It’s that time of the year again. Time for me to pontificate about the new year whilst reliving any poignant moments from 2023. Strap in folks, it’s gonna be a bumpy ride. In short, 2023 sucked for me. It sucked for many, I’m sure, and that’s why I write this stuff. To let you know that you’re not alone, if you’re one of these people. *shakes your hand in solidarity* The thing that sucks the most is that, much like every other year, I went into it with expectations. Aka the killer of all things joyful. I’m not a New Year’s Resolution type, but rather a “make some goals for yourself” type. Whil ..read more

The Most Important Self Care Tip You Need
The Skinny Pig | Where Gluttony is no longer a sin

If you’ve been on the internet at all in the past year or two (or three), you’ve probably seen a bunch of videos about “self care” from (mostly) women who look like they fell out of a Pinterest pin. Everything in the house is white. The flowers are fresh. The sheets are crisp. They have a perfectly messy bun. In my mind, these bitches are sleeping “light as a feather, stiff as a board” style or something. Just straight hovering above the sheets. The bed isn’t even messed up WHEN THEY BE CLIMBIN OUT OF IT. That wasn’t even proper English, but you know what I mean. Rant over. We discussed this a ..read more

I Tried Electroacupuncture For My Neck Pain: Here’s How It Went
The Skinny Pig | Where Gluttony is no longer a sin

I’d like to preface this post by saying that I am 39 years old as of the date of this post and I have chronic pain in my neck (PTSD/stress related), as well as my knee (car accident many years ago). I have only had 2 sessions thus far, and we didn’t actually do any work on the knee yet, so this post is mostly referring to my neck pain. When I went in to Hoots Acupuncture, I was having a bad flare up with my neck, and when I say bad, I mean this shit is debilitating. I can’t sleep (without drugs to help knock me out), I can’t do basic tasks without pain, and it’s just an absolute bitch. No othe ..read more

What Do Social Media Consultants Do?

If you’re looking at the above photo, the answer is not “breakdancing.” One of the things I don’t talk about much (and should), is what I actually do for a living, aka how I make money. My blog has never been my main source of income (though I wish it was sometimes), so I’ve had to find other ways to make money over the years of freelancing and being my own boss. If you’re new here (hello!), I started out as a food blogger and food photographer (in NYC), which made it fairly easy to transition into handling social media for restaurants here, especially a few years ago when it was still a very ..read more
