Reviewed by Valerie Dorsey I, for one, don’t read romance, but Nora Roberts Trilogy Chronicles of The One is far from romance. Book 2 Of Blood and Bone is again set in the post apocalyptic world after the “Doom” has killed off most of the world's population. We see the rise of elves, shifters, and Uncannys, any who has magical abilities. Along with the light(good) is the dark, those that want to kill, destroy anything they don’t understand. In Of Blood and Bone we watch Fallon come into her own through the training of Mallick, who has been waiting centuries for The One to be born. Fal ..read more

Reviewed by Valerie Dorsey Publisher: Thomas & Mercer Published: March 1st 2018   Pages: 325 This is my second time reading a book from Caroline Mitchell. This one is part psychological thriller and murder mystery! Throw in a sexual predator of young girls and a dysfunctional family and you have a recipe for a good story! The main character, Emma, also deals with self image issues and bulimia! Mitchell does a great job of showing how a predator starts grooming his victims, winning them over, creating trust. It’s a sick game he plays with Emma and other girls! The reader is ..read more

If these three titles are any indicator, then you can expect more great titles from DHP in 2019.  Seventeen authors re-imagine the biblical apocalypse and all the hell that follows sixteen horrifying tales. What if the prophecies of Revelation hit today? What sort of craziness and evil would ensue? With this list of excellent authors contributing, it’s sure to be a Hell of a read! Wrath Jame ..read more

THE MANSION by Ezekiel Boone

Reviewed by Valerie Dorsey This is a first read for me of Ezekiel Boone’s work! For me the story kept me interested, which is one good thing about this book! It started off slow, with a lot of background on the characters involved, their prior lives at college, during college and at the shack after college! You learn what happened between Billy and Shawn. About half way thru the book you learn about Nellie! And it’s near the end of the book that any action takes place! This is where you read about the violent past of the mansion, Nellie as an almost AI taking over the house and the vi ..read more

Hi, everyone! 2019 was filled with great books written by great authors. This year I decided to narrow my favorites down to 19–this includes novels, novellas, anthologies, and collections. This was my first soiree with Daphne du Maurier, and let me tell you, it was a very good evening. She doesn’t use cheap thrills to entertain readers. Her agile word play is most excellent on the eyes. It really does make for a quick read. Echoes From The Macabre is filled to the brim ..read more
