Getting your period back after having a baby

A few months ago I got my period back after having Aria (baby #2). I can’t say I had missed it! I was lucky that Aria was 14 months before this happened. It was my second period in around 5 years (winning run!) because I fell pregnant with Finn, but only had one period after he was born before I fell pregnant with Aria.  Just like pregnancy, everyone’s period return is different but I thought I would give a run down of the general timeframes, accompanying hormonal changes and what you can do to manage these changes. When is the normal time to get your period back after baby? Breastfeedin ..read more

Strategies to stop Emotional Eating
Eat Pray Workout | Australia's Leading Lifestyle & Healthy Living Blog

Have you ever entered ‘unsupervised child at a party’ mode when you’ve been sad, annoyed or stressed? What I mean by that is, have you ever over eaten as a way to deal with your feelings? Is emotional eating something you still tend to do? Emotional eating is something that I’ve struggled (and sometime still struggle!) with, and I know most of us, at one time or another have reached for the Tim Tams to chocolate coat those unhappy feelings. Let’s be honest, it works a treat – who doesn’t love a bit of comfort food! But it isn’t really a sustainable way to manage yourself and doesn’t comfort ..read more

Spices! They can transform a simple bland dish into an aroma and flavour filled meal that you’ll be wanting to add to your regular repertoire. This Moroccan roasted cauliflower with grilled fish dish by Bridget Davis is one that is on repeat at our house. It’s quick and easy and utilises some of the best favourite combinations. You can do this dish with either Ras el hanout (mix of cinnamon, coriander seeds, black pepper, ground ginger), or a Moroccan spice blend (cumin, Himalayan salt, pepper, cinnamon, all spice, coriander, chilli, cloves, nutmeg and turmeric), which lend such a wonde ..read more

Time poor? Working too much? Holidays? Kids? No excuses! Prioritise or it is not going to happen. You don’t need a big chunk of time. If you only have short amounts of time – make the most of it! I’ve made a ten minute body weight workout that you can definitely squeeze into your day at least once (but preferably three times to hit the recommended 30 minutes of exercise per day). This workout is equipment free, and doesn’t take up much space at all so you can do it anywhere. Break your 30 minutes of exercise into 10 minute blocks I know that finding a full 30 minutes to exercise in the ..read more

My gut health healing story!
Eat Pray Workout | Australia's Leading Lifestyle & Healthy Living Blog

I’ve struggled with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) for over 8 years now with symptoms ebbing and flowing throughout that time. Passing foul smelling gas, pregnant looking painful bloating and alternating between diahorrea and constipation have all been ‘normal’ for me. In an ongoing effort to heal my gut health, I’ve worked with GP’s, dietitians, gastroenterologists and most recently, nutritionist Jessica Cox from The JCN Clinic. I understand most people don’t talk about these embarrassing conditions but the reality is that many people struggle with IBS, (1 in 4 actually). So, I just want to ..read more
