This year, I’m diving into a deep pool of personal growth and embarking on a monthly Rolleiflex challenge to spark new inspiration and further my passion for medium-format photography. Follow along with me! I’ve already completed the January and February, and while waiting for the rolls to develop, this felt like a nice time to share more about this incredible camera! Given the unique vintage aesthetic, my Rollei often draws attention in public, and I welcome curious questions and conversations. With a recognizable, boxy shape, shooting with a Rollei is like traveling back in time; the manual ..read more

As we kick off a new year, we have the gift of 12 fresh chapters waiting to be filled with new discoveries, stories, and creativity. 2024 is the year I put my photography first, and I set a few personal creative goals, including sharing my work publically and more consistently. One of my goals was to launch a photography challenge using medium format film. I believe this will push me creatively and keep me accountable for sharing my personal work publicly ( is a big hurdle I am working to overcome). The idea for this project grew from my own experience of overcoming a series of overwhelming ev ..read more

Welcome, 2024! During my annual winter escape, I’m back in Florida for a few weeks where I am spending a lot of time in my mom’s garden with my camera and my journal. After overcoming the last two years of medical challenges, it’s a huge relief to see my mom active and healthy again! We’re working on exciting creative projects together, and I’m so grateful for this special one-on-one time. Life is short, make your art! Lately, I’ve been in a state of deep, pensive reflection about my life as a freelance creative — what I create, why and for whom. I’ve gone through a deep, personal journey and ..read more

Located in the center of the Mediterranean, Sicily is a hub of cultural infusions where history and modernity intersect. Over centuries, many cultures have converged in Sicily, the Phoenicians, Greeks, Romans, Arabs, Normans, and Spanish each left behind a trace of their cultural that wove together a fascinating tapestry of architecture, cuisine, and traditions. Our visit to the bustling capital city of Palermo felt like an urban photo safari. While I am usually captivated by nature and botanical scenery, I felt a bit overwhelmed by the whirling business of Palermo. Eventually, I found my groo ..read more

As part of our women's photography retreat, we experienced the rich flavors and traditions of Sicilian cuisine, tasted plenty of street food in Palermo, explored vibrant markets and participated in cooking workshops led by local women. Two local women hosted a Sicilian food tour and cooking class for our group and provided us with an immersive experience that deepened my understanding of Sicilian cuisine. Connecting with locals is one of my favorite ways to travel, and this hands-on experience gave me a new appreciation for Palermo's rich culinary heritage. At the end of this post, I've includ ..read more

Living a creative life requires time, energy, and dedication, which can be challenging to prioritize while juggling client work. In 2024, I set a goal to prioritize my personal projects and creative development. After eight years of freelancing as a writer and photographer, I started to feel stuck. I spent too many days in long meetings, trapped behind a glaring screen. With a fresh start and renewed focus, this year, I am diving deep into my photography. This is my longest creative passion and professional skill that was somewhat put on hold as I advanced my commercial work as a copywriter an ..read more

Orlando Day Trip: Visit Green Springs Park

During my latest winter visit home to Florida, I was on the lookout to discover new (to me) nature spots where I could escape the suburban sprawl. Nestled near Lake Monroe and the St. John's River, Green Springs is only a 30-minute drive from downtown Orlando, and it's free to visit. Tip: don’t forget to bring bug spray! A scenic bicycle ride from Orlando to Green Springs is a great option too. Besides serving as a trailhead, it connects to the Spring-to-Spring Trail and the East Central Regional Rail Trail. This is definitely on my bucket list for next time! Appropriately named for its vivid ..read more

During my annual winter visits home to Florida, I love exploring the wild and unique nature that my home state has to offer. On this trip, my friend (and fellow photographer) Mike invited a few friends for a day trip to Orlando Wetlands Park, a wildlife preserve that offers 1650 acres of trails and beautiful views of nature. Open to the public for free, Orlando Wetlands Park is an environmental conservation project located in Christmas, Florida (about a 30-minute drive from Orlando). Here, visitors can discover a thriving ecological habitat featuring a network of ponds, marshes, and wetland ar ..read more
