I have had so much fun thinking of projects to turn into kits I can sell in my Etsy shop WhimziVille. Since I make a lot of Altoid tin projects I designed a heavy cardstock shrine shaped front that can be decorated with 6mm plastic pearls and glittler glue for some pizazz. This set of altoid tin shrines show the variety of styles. The first tin is fabricated with an Etsy shop download, so it only takes a few minutes to put a shrine together using the shrine frame. The middle tin shrine is a combination of scrapbook paper, a metal charm and a thoughtful message. The last shrine took a bit mor ..read more

I was reading a magazine who requested “flat lay” photographic images and I tried experimenting with odds and ends on a 5 x 7 piece of paper. When I arranged this vignette with garage sale stuff, the title “Nothing makes sense” popped in my mind! All the items in the flat lay had no connection. Nowadays it seems many things have either become politically incorrect or at the very least confusing. Life seems like it was simpler when I grew up. Sometimes it seems like the world has turned upside down. CLICK AND PRINT ..read more

Repurposed Inspiration: Ceiling Tin Tile Dolls

The owner of Sunrose Gallery texted me recently asking for another “Wanna Smootch” themed piece.  I told her I was out of frogs…because all the pieces with that theme had featured a frog.  My reasoning is you have to kiss a lot of frogs to find your prince!  Cathy responded you don’t NEED a frog.  LOL I purchased this tin heart at a garage sale because I thought it would make a perfect base for a doll.  I made up about 20 paper clay faces which are really easy to paint and are the perfect size for a large tabletop doll. I printed out some pieces of clip are and a say ..read more

Cathy, owner of Sunrose Gallery texted me a photo the other day notifying me that my newest Junk Jewelry tree had sold.  Time to make another one! I purchased the pizza screens as a three pack on Amazon.  I use black spray paint over the bright silver finish. This time I wanted to feature glass dome mandalas to add some new dimension to the junk jewelry.  I got the mandala printables on Etsy.   I used a combination of mandalas, junk jewelry and filled the spaces in with small beads. I like the different textures, there is something new to notice each time you look at t ..read more

This cute set of earrings came courtesty of a last minute dash into Goodwill.  I always check the aisle where the tin containers are stashed.   This little beauty instantly inspired me….I could see several sets of earring on the lid! The tin is super easy to cut with wire cutters to make the first cut and regular scissors for the detail cuts.   I decided to leave the background color for a little extra color.  After cutting out all that was left was to punch a few holes and get my earring findings out.   Aren’t these perfect for summer?  Very easy to make and ..read more

I like to make lists!  A few years back I purchased a stack of magnetized list pads that are convenient to attach to the fridge.  As I have emptied the pads I save the magnet backing.  This week I decided to try making a little piece of art to brighten the kitchen.   I find a lot of joy in making lists!  It keeps me focused and it’s so satisfying to cross things off!  I got my stack of magnetized back pads on Amazon. I used a piece of blue scrapbook paper for the back and printed out an artsy edge from my collection of edges I have purchased on Etsy through the ..read more

Believe it or not, the tutorial for this Egg Carton Nest Ornament is the most popular post I have ever made in my WhimziVille blog. At this writing that blog post has had 3,869 views! As I was going through past posts to get ideas for new crafting kits to sell in my Etsy shop, it was a no-brainer to make a kit…especially because the ornament is really easy to make. I decided to make a new post to show how to make the ornament again, but also show the contents of my new craft kit.  The clear egg cup comes already decorated with the moss on the sides to make it easier to add the pearl nec ..read more
