Long time lurker, first time poster. I'm hoping to get your expertise on what a typical procurement team should look like at a late stage tech start-up ($250M+ in revenue). I'm in FP&A and have procurement rolling up to me (legacy structure from before my time). This is the first time in my career that I've had to be responsible for procurement and want to make sure I'm doing it right.
We allow the business to source their own vendors, which is unlikely to change b/c of internal politics. The 1 procurement person is a lawyer who manages our intake tool, drafts/redlines contracts and herds ..read more

Hi all,
I am looking for some advice on writing a comms to encourage early stakeholder engagement. I am the indirect buyer for a medium sized manufacturing company.
It has come to my attention that a couple of high value pieces of work have reached PO stage completely bypassing procurement/me.
I want to communicate to stakeholders the benefits of engaging with procurement at the earliest stage, but as the comms I send will be read by snr management I want to make sure I get the tone right. I.e friendly and informative and not moaning. I think there is a perception within the company that proc ..read more

Is this something uncommon,? I'm looking at entry procurement/entry buyer/trainee buyer/assistant buyer/junior buyer roles on LinkedIn but even though they seem to be entry roles from their titles, their requirements section say otherwise.
Some say they want experience you to have purchasing experience already, Great stakeholder management (no exp so can't prove that), proficiency in the sourcing process, negotiation skills, commercial experience etc.
The only roles I've seen that look like they'd accept me are trainee fashion buyer's (no interest in this at all) or student placement roles bu ..read more

Hello. I am a 2nd year student at a university in North Carolina, double majoring in Accounting and Business Administration: Supply Chain Management.
Recently, I have obtained in an internship in procurement with a biotech company and was wondering if the accounting double major would be worth pursuing to have a career in procurement. Perhaps, it would give me a flexible scope of options for a career if I wanted to shift out of procurement (i.e. cost accounting, CPA, CFE).
Thank you!

Hi,
It seems that due to factors beyond my control, my current position may be at risk due to a potential closure of our plant. I want to proactively search for new opportunities, particularly in procurement. Here’s a brief overview of my background:
8 years at a Fortune 100 CPG
Experience in Logistics (warehouse management), Global Logistics Management, and high-speed Packaging Management
BA in Economics
Any recommendations on certifications or courses that might help with this transition? Is it feasible for me to move into Procurement or Strategic Sourcing given my background?

Anyone else have problems with the chapter quizzes?
I am finding the questions wordy, not straight forward, having several answers that could be right, etc.
I have worked in procurement for 10 years and have seen several different types of supply chains, so my struggle with these chapter quizzes is very discouraging. I've seen several posted about using other resources, but does anyone know the best approach for tackling these quizzes?
I am reading the textbook and doing the quizzes after I finish each chapter, and still only get 50% on most of them.

Hello everyone,
I'm about to graduate with a degree in acquisition and contract management. Long story short, I served in the military and have about 16 months left of free schooling and a "Housing allowance" check. I'm looking to utilize the rest of this for side cash and an additional skill that will overall contribute to my career.
I've worked as a buyer for the past few years and will eventually want to move up. What additional college classes/degrees/certifications do you recommend to assist with this?

Looking for referrals on tailoring LinkedIn profile, etc, with someone that understands Procurement/Sourcing/Vendor Mgt. Ideally could help refresh my exec lvl interview skills.
So it’s that time again (unfortunately)…. Was REALLY hoping my last job hunt would take me to retirement (..or at least to be able to move to a 1099 consulting gig).
Appreciate in advance and referrals
